ESPN Reporter Britt McHenry Suspended After Foul-Mouthed Rant

ESPN suspended reporter Britt McHenry after a video of a foul-mouthed rant went viral on Thursday.

“I’m in the news sweetheart, I will f***ing sue this place,” McHenry can be seen telling a worker at Advance Towing in Arlington, Va., after her car was impounded.

The 28-year-old also criticized the woman’s appearance telling her to “lose some weight, baby girl,” and asking, “Maybe if I was missing some teeth they would hire me, huh? Cause they look so stunning … Cause I’m on television and you’re in a f***ing trailer, honey.”

Women can be so vicious, mean-spirited and vindictive to one another. Worse than guys in my opinion.

Would never cut on someone for their weight or appearance, no matter how mad I was at them.

I have a hard time believing that she wasn't provoked in some way. The video that I saw was cut/edited to her responses, and starts off visceral... Who knows what was said before she started going off.

I don't believe ESPN has any right to fire her, or suspend her to be quite honest, for something she said to people in her personal time.

That's just our society now days.

People say and do anything they want, .. hurt others, .. drag their own integrity through the mud, .. and then just say, "sorry, my bad".

Nobody is held accountable any more, so people are inclined to do anything they please.

Exactly. I don't think they should fire her, but they certainly have a right to.

ESPN is entertainment. In entertainment, you have to sell yourself. Though she wasn't on the clock, she's still representing ESPN, which in turn damages their reputation a bit and makes it tougher to sell themselves.

She put herself in that position by pulling the "do you know who I am?" card. Otherwise this probably would have just been another day at the tow lot.

It irritates me to no end when someone throws their college degree into someone’s face as if that degree automatically makes them superior to those that don’t have one. Most of my technicians are really intelligent and got their schooling from a trade school, military, or just plain old OJT. Most of them get paid more than the office workers we have here and it really upsets the office workers that they get paid less than the technicians because the office workers have degrees and most of the technicians don’t. The office workers just don’t think it’s fair. I try to tell them the technicians are the ones who make the company money and we’re here to make their job easier. I’m a former technician who has worked his way up so they always think I’m taking the technician’s side.

I’ve even caught my daughter in that mindset before. She is working on her Master’s now, and I’ve very proud of her, but I’ve heard her mention “she is working on her Master’s so she knows what she is doing”.

I think she's sorry she got caught but she came across as a vile spoiled brat.

I'd fire her. If she's half as great as she thinks she is she'll get a job elsewhere.

I think it was an impound lot. People are just mad about their cars being impounded. It is a VERY frustrating situation, but not to take it out on the person who is trying to help you.

I would be so ashamed if she were my daughter, sister, etc.

She may have a diploma, but she still has a great deal to learn, ... about life, the treatment of others, common decency, compassion.

I am grateful that I do not have to deal with her in my life.

Never was the saying of "Beauty is only skin deep" more true.

There is something wrong with our culture, .. but this looks like a parenting issue to me.

Funny, but in her case the car was in a restaurant parking lot and not in a no parking area. The tow truck company claims the car was there two hours past closing, but they also have a reported shady reputation.

Gotcha.. I haven't really followed the story other than look at the video. There are only so many reasons why a car might get towed. repo'd, car accident, or parked illegally.

This kind of stuff has happened for years. The only difference is that today we have all of this behavior captured on camera. Now there can be repercussions for their actions because it is hard to escape their actions being shared with everyone. Whereas in years past people just got away with this stuff because it wasn't out in the public light.
