Was glad to finally see some randomness to our defense.

Rod Marinelli reluctantly dials up successful blitzes against Washington

I said it to my friend at the beginning of the game. My exact words..

This is completely out of character for Marinelli. It will ne interesting to see how long he sticks to this aggressive style because it has to be uncomfortable.

He came out after the half settled back into the robotic conservative defense. But it all worked out soooo.... I was just glad to see life at the DC position.

Understand, Marinelli doesn’t like to blitz. Abhors it. He wants to use a four-man rush to harass the quarterback and drop seven into coverage because he believes that’s the best way to play pass defense. The problem, of course, is the Cowboys’ pass rush has been useless much of the season.

That means quarterbacks have more time to go through their progressions and find open receivers. Marinelli changed his tactics against Washington because the Cowboys needed to enhance their pass rush, and they believed Washington would have difficulty handling the blitz.

Wonder if part of the thought process is Green Bay has had a chance to watch film and make adjustments for it, so it would be a less effective trick to pull out of the bag for this game and the rest of the season.

Seems to me that his adjustment was a step in the right direction. If there ever was a game that it should be repeated, I think it'd probably be vs. GB and Rodgers.

I was completely shocked that our first play from scrimmage was a pass. Inconceivable.

I would love to see what we could do if OScan was out there with BJones instead of Wilcox or Church.
