All right Jerry... If it is such a problem to have a Top5 pick, then why did he make the trade with Cleveland? Sure not to get a #22. As Hos says, they cancelled the parade. Jerry would love to have a pick up there and i don't believe that it is about financial concerns here. It's just not worth the picks.
Of course he wanted that pick, but he also wanted to be able to keep his other picks.

You cannot do both. That seems to be the thing a lot of folks are forgetting. Of course he wants McFadden and would take him. The man is not stupid. However, if he pays the price to get back that high in the Draft now it leaves this team probably to the end of the 3rd round before they can pick again. If McFadden then ends up a bust or gets injured, you have the salary he is paid plus the sunk cost of the 3 picks it took to get up there to do it.

There is more to cost than just salary paid to a player. That is the least of the worries.

Jerry could be saying to the owners of the top 5 picks that the draft value chart is way off these days. In essence, that owning a top 5 pick isn't worth what it used to be because of the guaranteed money necessary to sign those guys. Therefore, it should take less to move up these days.

I don't think for a second that Jerry is telling the whole world what his draft day plans are or aren't a month before the draft.

One problem.................McFadden is not falling out of the top 10.....

Moot..

I agree...the Raiders are probably going to take him and that will be the end of it

and after him, there isnt another RB IMO thats worth using a 1st rd pick on...may as well wait till the 2nd or 3rd rd to get one to backup Barber

I dont either. At least I hope not.

Every quote he had was about financial reasons.

He said nothing about giving up picks being the reason.

I agree that rookies dont deserve those type of contracts.

If you dont draft well and you suck there is just no hope for you in salary cap football.

good idea he might slide down to #6 or #7 though

I really doubt it, and if he does the Jets will almost assuredly take him

but I'd bet on it that the Raiders take him
