Jeremy Green: Happy Friday everyone. Let's get started.

Jamal (Wisconsin): Friday.....Friday....its Friday.... The first Friday of training camps.... The day before I draft the team that will destroy Asher...

Mike (Reno): I saw that Simeon Rice was cut by the Bucs. Any chance that the Niners try and scoop him up. I'm pretty sure he'd help the pash rush and be an upgrade over Marques Douglas.

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: I think Rice ends up in Washington. They will ante up some money to get him and they need big time help at the DE spot. Rice does not fit the 3-4 defense.

Sean (Philly): TGIJG, if you are the Falcons, what QB's are out their to be had? Culpepper obviously, but what about a guy like Plummer? Any QB's on rosters that could be traded for? Kelly Holcomb comes to mind.

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: Culpepper is the logical choice. Holcomb could be had in a trade. Gus Frerrote comes to mind via trade. Jake Plummer could be had in a trade, but has given no indication that he wants to play again.

Joe (AZ via Chicago): GREENER - HAPPY FRIDAY - Now that Briggs is reporting to camp on time, do you expect him to have a HUGE year leading into FA next offseason? Also, what are your thoughts on the Tillman extension?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: Happy Friday Joe. I think he does have a huge season. This is a one year marriage for both parties and he knows he can cash in next year so the incentive is there for him to have a big season. I like the Tillman extension - both corners are now done and I think that is big for their defense because he and Vasher are solid in the cover two but both can also match up in man coverage.

Asher (Indy): Hey JG! 1st, Jamal is dreaming. I beat him last year, I'll beat him this year. 2nd, I've seen several quotes from Kiffin that he already has many people slotted both in line and other places - it's not set yet, but they are going into camp with those in mind. This has got to be an improvement over the Art Shell & Co. approach of shifting the line every other week, right? I find it refreshing for a coach to admit that he's mostly got the lineup set as opposed to pretending he doesn't have a clue who his starters are. Thoughts? P.S. I will CRUSH you!

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: I think going into the season saying positions are on the line is posturing. Coaches have a pretty good idea as to who their starters are going to be and I think that is very important for continuity.

John (San Diego, CA): I'm little worried about Ted Cotrell as a DC in San Diego. The Vikings D seemed to improve after he left and many Vikings fans have described him as worthless and out of touch with players. Is San Diego a top 5 defense with him?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: I am not a big Cottrell fan, but I think they are top five because of the talent they have on that side of the ball. He does not like to attack and is a more passive play caller but I think based on personnel and what has worked for them with Phillips he will adjust his coaching style.

Otis(The Big NYC): Hey Jeremy.Do you see Priest Holmes making any significant impact for Kansas City this year?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: I don't think he does and I don't know if he is even healthy enough to pass a physical at this point.

Brandon (Raymore,MO): Jeremy, Why are there so many haters on the Bears upcoming season? Don't you think they have a chance to be even better than a year ago on both o and d?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: I think they have a chance to be about the same on defense. I am still a little worried about the DT posiiton with Scott and Johnson gone and Harris coming off his injury. Offensively the will be better. Hester will play some on offense and Greg Olsen gives them another guy that make plays in the middle of the field. Grossman will continue to get better as well.

thnom: What do you think of the Eric Moulds move by Tennessee? I really think the WR problem is overstated; with a strong running game I think Vince Young can get by with 2-3 700-800 yard WRs. You agree?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: I think their WR problems are a little bigger then you see. I think it is very hard to be consistent on offense without a #1 target and even with Moulds they don't have that.

RYAN(SIOUX CITY): green. I am pretty sure priest passed multiple orthopedic physicals as well as general physicals. he couldnt report to camp and etc if he didnt pass could he? all the nfl news guys say he passed multiple exams with "flying colors" as chris mortenson said.

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: Saw that. I am not sure he passed the team physical yet though. As with LeCharles Bentely in Cleveland. He has passed a physical... I don't believe he has passed the Browns physical yet,

TJ: wut up JG!? How worried is Pitt with Timmons & this nagging groin injury? Reports say Woodley is having a monster camp so far. What have you heard?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: Not too worried at this point but every day you miss as a rookie is huge. Woodley has been extremly impressive thus far and they will be loking for a lot of different ways to get him involved in the defense.

Bryan (Pueblo West, CO): JG, how much does the retirement of Tarik Glenn hurt the Indianapolis offense? Does it hurt their passing game more than their running game? It seemed to me that their whole offensive line was predicated on teamwork and knowing what the guy next to them was thinking.

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: It hurts their run game more then their passing game even though Glenn is an excellent pass blocker. Manning gets rid of the ball so quickly that he makes the entire line better. His loss will be felt though. He has been an underaed player over his career.

Mark (Bangor, PA): Okay Jeremy, you teased me mentioning Bentley in your one response. Talk to me about the Browns OL, do they finally have one?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: They do have one. First time since they have been back in the NFL and getting Thomas done on time was huge because now they can move Schaffer over the right side and let him compete with Kelly Butler. Fraley and Steinbach give them some toughness inside. Solid group that will get better each year over the next few seasons.

Kellan (Ireland): What does McCardell signing do to help the Texans offense, specifically Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: It just gets them another target. You could tell age caught up with him last year in San Diego plus he had a hammy that kept flaring up. However, they need someone to help take pressure of Johnson and McCardell as a vet has to be respected, so his signing will help.

ava(ny): how do you see vernon davis shaping up this year? will gore regress?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: I think Davis has an ecxellent season if he stays healthy. He missed quite a bit of time as a rookie last season and that is hard to over-come. As for Gore regressing? I don't see it. I think with his work ethic we only see him get better.

Larry (NYC): The 2007 Defensive Rookie of the Year will be ____________

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: Anthony Spencer

Xavier ( Dallas ): JG, our new D-Coordinator (B. Stewart)came out yesterday and said we should have the best Defense in the league barring injuries. Your thoughts on that b/c I am giddy to see D. Ware n Co. attack, attack, attack.

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: They are going to be better on defense without question. The front seven is going to attack and attack some more. Still questions is the back end though. Hamlin has to make fewer mental busts then he had in Seattle because that was an issue that plagued the Dallas defense at times last season.

Tim (NJ): Why are people so down on the gmen because they lost Tiki? Jacobs, even though not proven, has all the tools to be great. Don't people realize that it wasn't just Tiki it was their o-line which for the most part has been together for about 4 years now. And don't give me that garbage taht they will miss Petigout.

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: I don't think it is just Tiki. Manning has regressed as a starting QB and the defense is not very good. At least that is why I am down on the G-men. I think Jacobs will be fine.

Wheres (The, Love?): Lions get Simi Rice...helps cover up the poor secondary, we make a run to the playoffs. What do you think? Also, do you expect Roy Williams to have a MONSTER year?

Ian (lexington, ky): Is Odell Thurman being ounished for Vicks sins?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: Good question there. Goodell was definitely a little harsh with Thurman. However, he did miss a test and when you miss a test they call it a "positive test." It is too bad too because his career might have just ended before it even started.

D (denver): The Broncos Jeremy, what do expect from Denver's 2007 team?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: They are going to be a playoff team. They will run the ball even better with Henry. They are going to be better vs.the run because they revamped the D-line. I love Bates as the DC because he will attack more then Coyer did. Cutler will be better. I think they are a 10-6 playoff team.

Michael (Warsaw, IN): Is Tony Romo more overrated than Rex Grossman is underrated?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: I don't think Romo is overrated. He is still unproven so to me that is a big difference. He has a chance this season as his first as the full time starter to show his stuff. He has great physical tools and a very good supporting cast so I think he is going to perform well.

Geoff-DC: So, How does Tampa's Def fare withour Sim? Will his injury limit his effectiveness this year?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: They are not going to be better without him, but they need to get younger on the defensive side of the ball. He was beat up last season but I think if he goes to a team that can play him 25-30 snaps a game on passing downs, he can still put up some very solid numbers.

Ben (San Diego): Did my Chargers really hire Norv Turner as their head coach? Or was nightmare real? How many fourth quarter leads will we blow under him? After all, it's his speciality.

Josh (KY): The Colts have some young emerging talent on defense especially at CB - can their defense be good enough to get them back to the Super Bowl?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: Their run defense is still going to be an issue but as we saw in the playoffs their defense is not going to be their down fall. Their offense gives them a chance every Sunday and the defense is good enough to get them back to the big game.

Mad Mike (Houston): JG: Thanks god you are here, I now get some relief from a screaming customer. Does the addition of McCardell do anything more than give us a "veteran" in the mix or can he make a real measurable contribution. Thanks, MM

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: What's up MM. No major contributioins but does enough to take some pressure off Johnson. That was something Kevin Walter was not going to be able to do.

Cindy (KC): Jeremy Green says the Super Bowl match up will be .........

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: New England - Chicago.

Steve (Norwalk, CT): The Jets will contend for the AFC title in ___ years

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: I would say two years. They are on track and they are getting better but I think they actually lose more games next season because the schedule is much tougher.

Mark: (Parsippany, NJ): help a Cards fan out JG. For the first time in years the hype actually seems to match the talent. Where do you see them finishing in the West?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: I still they finish 4th out west. However 4th in that Division will likely be one-two games out of first place. That Division is going to be tight to the end.

Joe (AZ via Chicago): Follow up on Grossman/Romo - We've discussed your opinions of Grossman before - do you qualify him as underrated then, given the public's perception that he's Cade McNown or worse?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: He is underrated. I have never seen a QB that took his team to the SB get more beath up then him.

Jeff, St. Louis: Will Carriker keep linemen off Witherspoon, a future pro-bowler?

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: I think he can. It is going to be a bit of a transition moving inside to DT though. He is tough, physical, great motor. He will make both Spoon and Tinoisamoa better.

Majeed: JG, Can't believe you're buying all the NE hype as well. Moss will cry, Stallworth will tear a hammy as usual, and Welker might double his TD's to 2 this year. I predict SD/Philly SB!

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: Get of the SD bandwagon Dolphins fan.

sn2.gif
Jeremy Green: OK guys I am out of here. Computer was running a little slow today so I apologize for that. As we get closer to the season I will do my extended chat versions where we will get the 1 1/2-2 hour mark. Thanks again and have a great weekend.

Cannot beleive how he keeps defending Grossman. The guy stank it up a lot more then he made good plays. The bears got to the big game IN SPITE of him not because of him.

They probably see Spencer getting close to double-digit sacks in Phillips' scheme, and numbers are telling when it comes to ROY honors.

I don't remember Carpenter getting as much love as Spencer is, but then again, I hated the drafting of him (Now that I think of it, I really disliked that entire draft, with the exception of Hatcher, who I didn't know enough about to hate), so I may have selective memory.

I think it's way to early to judge the 06 draft since all of our first day picks could make major contribution to the team this year. I also still like like 2nd day picks Watkins & McQuistan.

I agree. We've only had one pick as a sure write off to this point. Skyler Green. We had five guys from that draft class contribute as rookies...and doing so on a playoff caliber team is pretty good IMO. Let these guys play it out a little longer before *****ing and moaning about them. There's no doubt we got some talent out of that draft, whether or not they were the right picks for our needs, well that's another story. However, seeing as how we don't have any glaring holes in starting positions, I think things turned out ok.

Of course they did for Carpenter too last year.
Which writer picked Carpenter for DROY last year? I can't recall a single one.

All I remember hearing is that he might have been a reach.

I remember hearing that he was a safe pick. He would be a solid, but not spectacular player.

Funny...in his last chat he said DROY would be Willis. He did mention that if Spencer got 10 sacks, he'd get it. I guess he's determined in a week that Spencer willget 10
