Welcome to The Show! On Friday, Scouts Inc.'s Keith Kidd will stop by to take your football-related questions.
Kidd spent 14 years in NFL front offices before joining Scouts Inc., including eight years with the Arizona Cardinals, three as the director of pro personnel for the Cleveland Browns and three as the assistant director of pro scouting for the New England Patriots, where he was a part of two Super Bowl championship teams (2003 and 2004).
Send your questions now and join Keith on Friday at noon ET for all the answers.

Keith Kidd: (12:06 PM ET ) What's up SportsNation! It's an exciting time of the year as teams get ready to improve in the offseason. With the combine going on today and free agency starting next Friday, everyone's on an equal playing field now, baby. As they try to position themselves for Tampa in '09. Let's get rolling!
Greg (Iowa): What's up Keith? Who are some player the Niners may target in free agency? Thanks!
Keith Kidd: (12:07 PM ET ) Obviously, they'll look to improve at LB with a guy like Lance Briggs. They definitely need to address more playmakers that fit into Mike Martz's scheme. Bernard Berrian, DJ Hacket. Keep an eye on Tommy Kelly from across the bay. He would be a good fit in their system.
Shaun (Shoreline, Wa): Keith, thanks for taking this question. The internet forums are alive with rumblings that the Hawks will cut Shaun Alexander. My question is this, with Alexander's large salary and cap number, do you see him staying on the roster if the Seahawks ask him to restructure his contract and he declines?
Keith Kidd: (12:08 PM ET ) I don't think there would be a big market for him, even if he was released. The Seahawks have a lot of room under the cap and I would be surprised if they would terminate his contract right now. Even though Morris is a better fit in that system, let's remember that Alexander was limited last year because of the injuries.
Chris (Staten Island, NY): Keith, what do you hear out of Dallas about shoring up the secondary? The way I see it, their ability to add a good corner or 2 will pretty much determine just how far this team goes. In free agency, they can't afford Asante Samuels and I don't think Drayton Florence or Randall Gay are much better than Jacques Reeves. I'd take a flier on Pacman Jones but who knows if he's going to be reinstated and in the draft there's a strong chance the top corners will be gone by the time they pick in the 1st round. I think they have to consider trading pick 28 for Dangelo Hall like the Giants are considering.
Keith Kidd: (12:10 PM ET ) They franchised Ken Hamlin. You've got to love Terrance Newman, based on how he played a year ago. Anthony Henry is starting to decline, but can be somewhat efficient. But they are going to have some depth concerns. Another need is OT now that Flozell is on the market. It will be interesting to see what they do with Marion Barber. I expect them to tender him the highest amount because I don't expect Jones to be back.
Dan (Buffalo, NY): Kidder, what are your thoughts on the re-signing of J-Lew? Also, if the Browns sign Anderson to a 3 year deal and he puts up Pro Bowl numbers again, will that seal the fate for Quinn?
Keith Kidd: (12:11 PM ET ) I thought it was huge. Based on what the Browns have done last season, everything they've done has been positive. They extended Crennel along with signing a key piece in the puzzle in Jamal Lewis. You have to be effective running the ball late in the season. Now they have to figure out the Anderson situation. Once that's done, they can address the other side of the ball. Although I still think they need to get another receiver.
Tim (California Viking): Morning Kidder! Do you think the Vikings would trade their first round pick to the Brown's for Quinn or are they committed to Jackson still? Do you think the Browns would take it even?
Keith Kidd: (12:12 PM ET ) Let's put any kind of trade rumor of Brady Quinn to rest. The Browns are not going to trade him. However, I do expect the Vikings to address the QB situation. Though it's a very thin market. What will make Jackson better next year will be more explosive playmakers on the perimeter next year which will ease the box for Adrian Peterson
Matt (Iowa): With two picks in the first round, what position will the Cowboys for sure go after?
Keith Kidd: (12:13 PM ET ) The Cowboys, with two picks, should be able to move up or move back to get more picks. If the draft were today, they could go in a lot of different directions. CB, LB, RB. A lot of it will depend on who they lose in free agency.
Doug (NY): Local paper has the Giants offering #31 for DeAngelo Hall. Good move by the champs?
Keith Kidd: (12:15 PM ET ) Absolutely. Now you acquire a No. 1 CB, which they don't have and address an experienced impact player right now. Whereas a rookie is going to have to develop and there's a lot of uncertainty this year. However, it's that time of year to throw a lot of different scenarios out there. How much fact or fiction is there, I don't know. But remember Hall is in the final year of a contract so you have to redo that. And he won't be cheap.
Keith Kidd: (12:16 PM ET ) Remember now, the Falcons have to be careful because they have cut a lot of players. The franchise tag has been given to 12 players. That really dimishes the market in free agency. This will be a buyers market. Some average players will get some big paydays.
Vito (Cicero, IL): The Chicago media is freaking out about the Bears not franchise-tagging Berrian; this is the same media that said during the season Berrian was not trying hard, dropped too many passes and was not worthy of the franchise tag. Where do you side? Thanks.
Keith Kidd: (12:17 PM ET ) I'm on the Bears side. The Bears put a value on the player as it pertains to dollars. They're not willing to exceed that. You have to love Berrian's ability to stretch vertically down the field. However, he's not a real physical guy and he's had a few dropsies. I think the Bears are more inclined to address the QB situation first.
Dave (CT): Is Brian Brohm a franchise type QB or will he become just another average NFL QB?
Keith Kidd: (12:18 PM ET ) Regardless of where he's taken, I think he has the potential to be a franchise QB. When you look at this league, when you get past the 15th ranked QB, you can put the rest in a hat.. Brohm has been in a pro system. It's just a matter of does he fit a particular offensive system that your team runs. He can throw the ball.
Daniel (Athens, Ga): One thing about any potential trade with DeAngelo Hall, who are the Falcons going to have play CB?
Keith Kidd: (12:20 PM ET ) Great point. You have to be careful about getting rid of great players. You still have to play next year. The new Falcons brass is going to have to take some time to turn this franchise around. Let's face it, no team in the NFL has ever gone through what they did last season. They lost their franchise QB which was huge, then on top of that, their head coach quit on them.
Matt (philly): Didn't Derek Anderson have a QB rating under 80 for 9 of his starts?? Doesn't that raise some red flags??
Keith Kidd: (12:21 PM ET ) Matt, not so much the rating, but the fact that he's not had the experience or history of being a starter in this league. That diminishes him somewhat from a trade standpoint. The best thing he can do is go back and play in Cleveland this season, either on a one-year deal or whatever.
Keith Kidd: (12:22 PM ET ) Look at Eli Manning. Everybody was ready to throw him out of New York. It takes time, experience and a tremendous amount of work to become a franchise QB in the NFL. That's why you see QBs getting recycled so much.
Chris (NY): Is there any hope that this year's draft will provide Lions fans with something to cheer about in 2008/2009?
Keith Kidd: (12:23 PM ET ) Hey Chris, I hope so. But let's face it, Matt Millen has cat lives, man. He's been there eight years. As long as he's running this team, there will be some concerns on my part. I really think letting Mike Martz go will come back to haunt them. They were good early in the year and not so good late in the year.
Jason Kang (Lake Forest, IL): Warren Sapp said that Kelly is going to be better than he was. Any truth to that?
Keith Kidd: (12:24 PM ET ) I think Tommy Kelly is a perfect fit at DE for a team that runs a 3-4 system.
John (work): Keith, you had mentioned DJ Hackett. Do you see him as a very undervalued WR in FA? Not a lot of people are talking about him....it seems. He looked pretty good last year when healthy.
Keith Kidd: (12:26 PM ET ) Yes. I don't know what his value is as far as money, because he hasn't been healthy. But when healthy, he's a talented, talented receiver. It will be interesting to see what his value is.
Merlin (Minnesota): Some believe Moss is willing to accept less, staying in NE to pursue a championship. Is there a chance the Packers (with ample cap space) pulls him out of Boston in hopes of sending Favre out on top?
Keith Kidd: (12:26 PM ET ) No, because I think he's got a deal already done in New England that will be released at the start of free agency. Otherwise, why would the Pats not franchise him?
Ted (Philly): Are the rumors that Larry Fitzgerald is the Eagles top offseason target legit?
Keith Kidd: (12:28 PM ET ) He would be on the top of a lot of teams' lists if he were available. But I don't think the Cardinals are going to let him go. They would be foolish to let a guy like him go. The concern in Arizona is can they reduce that huge cap number?
Luis (SB, CA): Tell Merlin in Minny that Green Bay's got a great receiving tamdem in Driver/Jennings/Jones/Martin
Charlie ( Charlotte): You think Carolina will target a big back in free agency like Turner? Or the draft? Or will they just let DeAngelo be the man?
Keith Kidd: (12:29 PM ET ) I think they need to address the RB situation, along with Williams. Turner makes perfect sense to me. However, this team still needs to address the WR position and defense.
Mikey(Lackawanna,NY): Do you think Lance Briggs and the Buffalo Bills would be a good fit together? The Bills do run the same defense Da Bears run! Plus I heard Briggs loved playing for Dick Jauron?
Keith Kidd: (12:30 PM ET ) Yeah, if they're willing to pay the amount of money that it's going to cost to get him. If they're willing to pay $8-9 million a year for an OLB. He would be a perfect fit. He would be an upgrade over Ellison and be a good mix with Pozsluzny. But I think they will address other needs first and Briggs will get done quickly.
Kate: why do people believe Randy Moss is every teams solution to the Super Bowl. He has not won a S Bowl yet and frankly the acquisition of Wes Welker was as valuable last year.
Keith Kidd: (12:32 PM ET ) Great point. I totally agree. Can you imagine what his numbers would be if he stays in New England and continues to play with Tom Brady. Everyone would like to play with this kind of athlete and have him on their team. It's funny, New England didn't have any problems with him.
Andrew(Florida): Do you think the Dolphins will be looking at signing CB and Florida native Asante Samuel?
Keith Kidd: (12:34 PM ET ) I think they'll definitely inquire about him. However, they did re-sign Lehan. I don't get the impression that the Dolphins are going to go out and throw money at certain players. I think Bill Parcells will rebuild this team, much like he did with the other teams where he's been.
Jake Long (#1 overall pick): Why am I not considered the best prospect in the Draft? 6'7" 315lbs with the wingspan of a condor...
Keith Kidd: (12:35 PM ET ) Believe me Jake, you're easily the best OT in the draft. And based on where you'll be taken, you'll be a very very wealthy young man in the next few months.
Nick (PA): KK... you hear any names that PGH is eyeing in FA?
Keith Kidd: (12:36 PM ET ) They're usually not a big player in free agency, because they've done a great job of addressing their needs in the draft. With that said, they'll definitely address the offensive line in the draft. OT is a very deep position.
mike (az): PLEASE PLEASE LETS CLEAR THIS UP: many many times Fitz has said he WANTS TO STAY IN AZ. Just today he and matty L were at the team complex running routes and throwing (you can read it on the cards website.) GM Rod Graves has said numerous times that "He is focusing almost all his attention to the Fitz contract and he is cautiously optimistic they will have a deal in place at the start of free agency." Fitz is not unhappy in AZ and has blossomed into a top-3 reciever in this league. My deepest appologies to everyone else in the league but Fitz is going to be wearing cardinals red for many years(at a lucrative $ amount) SO STOP ASKING ABOUT HIM!
Brandon Phoenix, AZ: Your thoughts on Jared Allen? You still think in the long run he stays a Chief or is he out of KC?
Keith Kidd: (12:37 PM ET ) He's staying in KC. They franchised him, so he's there for this year. And usually the Chiefs get long term deals done with players like him. It's just a long, long process, much like LJ.
Will (ABQ): Will Denver target an MLB this offseason and move Williams back to the outside?
Keith Kidd: (12:38 PM ET ) That's a strong possibility. The Broncos have got to find ways to get better with the interior of their defense, especially against the run.
Dave (NO,LA): The saints have a ton of cap room and a defense that needs to be remade. What are some moves they could make? Briggs? Vilma? Samuel? Move up in the draft? Move Down? Sideways?
Keith Kidd: (12:40 PM ET ) Defense, defense, defense. They could go a lot of different ways. Shut down CB, a guy like Samuel. An MLB like Dan Morgan. Briggs. But you can bet the house, based on how explosive this offense is, that they will address the defense this offseason.
Nnamdi Asomugha (Oakland): Am i the best franchise player no one has ever heard of?
Keith Kidd: (12:40 PM ET ) Yup. You are and good luck getting a long term deal done with Mr. Davis.
Ted (Philly): To mike (az): The Owners of your team are the Bidwills. You should be worried, very worried...
Danny (Florida): Quick, With the 1st pick in the 2008 NFL Draft the Miami Dolphins select ____________________
Keith Kidd: (12:41 PM ET ) Chris Long, DE, from Virginia.
kent (nawlins): Keith - Zach Thomas has been offered a contract by the Pats and the Saints already. He is scheduled to visit Dallas. Where do you see him ending up?
Keith Kidd: (12:42 PM ET ) New England Patriots. I'd be shocked if he's not a Patriot. Unless he wants to go back home and play for the Cowboys. It's not about money for him, it's about which team gives him the best shot at a championship.
Louie (Tampa, FL): Keith-Todd McShay stated yesterday that he could see a scenario where McFadden slips to the Jets at #6. Do you think that is possible? And if it is the Jets would have to select him, correct?
Keith Kidd: (12:43 PM ET ) Yeah, anything is possible. But I think what McShay was referring to is that the five teams in front of the Jets don't really need RBs. Teams can say whatever they want, but teams are getting away from value in the draft and more toward need.
Vincent (Chicago): If the Pats want to trade down from #7, will there be any players in demand there for which teams will want to trade up? Draft seems thin after the top 5 or 6?
Keith Kidd: (12:44 PM ET ) Their pick becomes more intriguing if a guy like Ryan or McFadden were to fall down or any other player slips that a team has in the top group. Then it becomes intriguing. Much like Adrian Peterson from last year.
Xander (Philly): Kidder, I gotta disagree with you about Zach Thomas. If it wasnt about the money, he would have signed with the Pats right away.
Xander (Philly): As figured the Pats didnt pick up Stallworth's option. Where does he end up? Back in Philly? Buffalo?
Keith Kidd: (12:47 PM ET ) It makes the WR market a little deeper. He's already been in Philly, so I don't see that. Buffalo is an option. Denver is a possibility. A lot of teams will have interest. He could re-sign with the Pats, who knows.
Mike (Ashville): What were the cap strapped Panthers thinking giving Wharton such a huge deal. He is in the botton 6-8 left tackles.
Keith Kidd: (12:48 PM ET ) I think he's very underrated. He's athletic, versatile. Along with Gross, he gives them two solid bookends on the Panthers OL. The interesting thing to me is how they allowed both players to get to the final year of their contract.
Dan - San Jose: Kidder...please stop posting Mike from Arizona's whiny rants. It's not very conducive to a productive chat. He can't even spell Michael and doesn't understand the concept of capital letters vs. lower-case letters.
Fremont, Ca: With Stallworth on the market, who's the better pick up: Stallworth or Berrian?
Keith Kidd: (12:50 PM ET ) I would go with Berrian. I think he's the better player right now.
Mad Mike (Houston): Kidder: There is word the Texans have interest in Zach, but that doesn't seem a good fit. I know Ryans played outside at Bama, but why would you make that move for 1 maybe 2 years. Just doesn't add up for me. Your thoughts, thanks....MM
Keith Kidd: (12:51 PM ET ) Good point. However, remember Thomas brings a lot of intangibles to the lockerroom based on his work ethic, character and knowledge of the game. That can be infectious for younger players. The one thing about Thomas when you study him on tape is his unbelieveable playmaking and motor.
VK (DC): What kind of offseason chat is this without talking about the Commanders? Who will Dan Snyder waste his money on this year?
Keith Kidd: (12:52 PM ET ) Stay tuned. However, I did talk to someone within that organization that said they're not going to be a big player in the free agency market. That will be interesting, because this team needs to address size at receiver and their defensive line.
Ben (Chicago): Why would the bears not try to resign Lance Briggs? he is a pro bowler, give him the money he deserves especially if your not going to keep Berrian.
Keith Kidd: (12:54 PM ET ) One of the things we don't know, because teams don't release it, is was there an offer to try and keep him? But maybe they're allowing Briggs to test the market and give them a chance to match. I think he played at a good level last year. One thing the Bears have done a good job of indentifying young players and extending them out.
Will (ABQ): Gee, Mike (AZ), seems like those many LONG years of losing has made you awfully temperamental. Don't pull a Denny Green on us!
Luis (SB, CA): With both you and John Clayton saying that OT is deep this year, shouldn't the Cowboys just release Flozell and groom a young LT that can gel with Romo? Flo is amazing but is also a huge cap hog
Keith Kidd: (12:56 PM ET ) Pat McQuistan is a guy they seem to be high on, along with Doug Free. What I'm referring to is the tackles being deep in the draft. Adams is coming to the end, but still playing at a high level. Obviously the committment and money at that position is big time. The QB is better too. You've got a mobile QB.
Chester, Ravens Country: Do you think the Ravens should take Sedrick Ellis or Matt Ryan if he's available?
Keith Kidd: (12:58 PM ET ) They have to address the QB situation. I don't know how you could pass up on Ryan. If he falls to 8, I don't know how you can pass on him. Buf if they can somehow get another year out of McNair and then take Ellis, what a great fit he would be in Rex Ryan's defensive scheme. The problem is that he'd have to play DE. They have Greg and Ngata.
Frank (Miami, FL): Do you think that JASON TAYLOR will be wearing a MIAMI DOLPHINS jersey next season?
Keith Kidd: (12:59 PM ET ) Yes. Even though the Dolphins got rid of a lot of players, if you study Taylor, he's still playing at a high level. He still has the game-changing ability. You can bet if he's released, he'll be a Patriot next season. Bill Parcells doesn't release talented players like that.
Jason (Bengals Nation): What does good old Marv Lewis do with the 9th overall pick? Everyone says D-Line, but he said he wouldnt rule out McFadden if he was still there. With 5 RB's on the roster, would you still go for it?
Keith Kidd: (1:00 PM ET ) If McFadden is sitting there when the Bengals pick at 9, Marvin Lewis will be doing backflips. But that's highly unlikely.
Kelly, Lubbock,TX: No Luis, we keep Flo and pay him like what he is...a Pro Bowler, the Draft is a crap shoot, why let go of a sure thing for a guy who may not even crack the starting roster, especially after waiting almost a decade to solidify our O-Line!
Bill (Iowa): Any truth to the rumor the Vikings are going to go hard after Justin Smith in free agency?
Keith Kidd: (1:01 PM ET ) It would make a lot of sense based on the health and Udezi's medical situation. But I still can't believe Justin Smith hit the market. Maybe they see something I don't see.
Ryan, Ohio: I have to think Savage will continue his free agency spending ways and go after Tommy Kelly with big money -- your thoughts? What about Calvin Pace?
Keith Kidd: (1:02 PM ET ) Both players would be great fits in the Browns' 3-4 system. However, to me Kelly makes a lot more sense. But don't forget that Kelly is coming off an ACL.
Dee (Greenville, NC): Charger question.....You think it would be wise for the Chargers to trade out of the first round for a second pick and a future #1 or #2 if they get the offer. They don't really have any glaring needs and I doubt that any player drafted will start at any position so they are basically drafting for depth this year.
Keith Kidd: (1:03 PM ET ) Absolutely. The Chargers have one of the most talented teams in the NFL and don't really have any glaring needs right now. Maybe addressing a guy at NT, maybe OLB, CB and a backup RB to LT.
Jason: Tampa, FL: Is Cadillac Williams career over? It seems the resigning of Michael Bennett is not the splash that would signal the end of Carnell's career and Earnest Graham also needs to have his contract renegotiated. Just wondering as I saw Kiper picked the Bucs to take Felix Jones in his last mock. Thanks.
Keith Kidd: (1:04 PM ET ) According to reports, it's probably 50-50. Even though they have Graham, the Bucs need to address speed on the offensive side. Stay tuned.
Bubba, Lower Forty: Hi y'all! Falcons are in desperate need for a lot of positions. What is their best approach to the draft?
Keith Kidd: (1:05 PM ET ) They're going to build inside-out. Look for them to address the offensive and defensive line. And have a lot of discussions on the QB. They're going to have to get a great feel of whether or not Matt Ryan is their guy.
Sujay (Chicago): Who is a more coveted player - Tommie Kelly or Shaun Rogers (if he becomes available)?
Keith Kidd: (1:07 PM ET ) Rogers, if he becomes available. He's extremely talented, but you just don't know which Rogers you're going to get on a week-to-week basis. And Kelly is coming off an injury. But there's no comparison in terms of talent.
Keith Kidd: (1:09 PM ET ) Hey guys, thanks for chatting. It's been a fast and furious hour. It's always great to talk ball with the 'Nation. I'll talk to you guys in a couple of weeks. Scouts Inc. will be here every Friday to talk NFL with SportsNation.

Jason (Bengals Nation): What does good old Marv Lewis do with the 9th overall pick? Everyone says D-Line, but he said he wouldnt rule out McFadden if he was still there. With 5 RB's on the roster, would you still go for it?
Kelly, Lubbock,TX: No Luis, we keep Flo and pay him like what he is...a Pro Bowler, the Draft is a crap shoot, why let go of a sure thing for a guy who may not even crack the starting roster, especially after waiting almost a decade to solidify our O-Line!
Bill (Iowa): Any truth to the rumor the Vikings are going to go hard after Justin Smith in free agency?
Ryan, Ohio: I have to think Savage will continue his free agency spending ways and go after Tommy Kelly with big money -- your thoughts? What about Calvin Pace?
Dee (Greenville, NC): Charger question.....You think it would be wise for the Chargers to trade out of the first round for a second pick and a future #1 or #2 if they get the offer. They don't really have any glaring needs and I doubt that any player drafted will start at any position so they are basically drafting for depth this year.
Thanks.
Bubba, Lower Forty: Hi y'all! Falcons are in desperate need for a lot of positions. What is their best approach to the draft?
Sujay (Chicago): Who is a more coveted player - Tommie Kelly or Shaun Rogers (if he becomes available)?
