It's hilarious watching some get all pissy over this. Especially when, if you put your blue and silver goggles aside, isn't that ridiculous of a claim by them.

We have a QB who is coming off back surgery two years ago and then broke his collar bone twice last year.

We have a front office that has spent the last 20 years tinkering and re-tinkering with the roster with no real clear plan for much of that period that has resulted in no NFC Champ game appearances since the mid 90s.

We have a head coach that has 6 seasons under his belt and is a .500 coach with only one playoff appearance on his resume.

Let's put it another way. If this was how they described the Eagles or Commanders, most of you all pissy now would be nodding your heads in agreement.

The Cowboys should win the East. Let me guess . Most of them picked the Eagles? It seems like they do that every year and then have to eat crow every year too.

No it was just woodson and bettis and the woman. All this stuff is throwaway crap no one cares about. I was just interested in why its not ok for woodson to think Dallas can win the division and the woman gets to say the "the cowboys they are the worst" and points at woodson calling him a homer.

Just seemed odd. as to the original article I didn't read it, I really couldn't care less what riddick and field yates think to be honest.

Yates did nothing in the nfl, nothing. Riddick has a pretty long career but worked under nfl juggernauts like vinny cerrato in washington and was part of the staff that put together the dream team in philly.

Excuse me if I do not care one bit right or wrong what they say, it simply doesn't matter.

I will say however whenever I do flip on espn if bill polian is on I will listen to him. He was excellent and is still fun to listen to I think.

but field yates? a glorified fantasy blogger....get out of here. I don't care what these guys say positive or negative.

This year will be fun. I'm quite sure. I love the winning but, the change of attitudes of the realists on this site is enjoyable.

I'll have to take note of these ESPN guys attitudes as well.

Please make a list and call out those who are wrong at the end of the season

Come to think of it, while you're at it, make a list of those predicting a great season in 2015 and call them out. Please done forget to include yourself

I'm sure it'll be "enjoyable"

I'll wait.......

As if Brees, Brady, Eli, all in their late 30's have proven backups behind them. As hard as it was for Romo to shake the choker label, it seems to now be replaced with the always injured label. I personally like the whole underdog thing.

Yeah, it seems the Cowboys are the only team in the league criticized for not grooming a young qb. Nevermind The fact the groomed QB is one of the biggest myths out there. But yea, who's being groomed in New Orleans, or San Diego? Maybe the guy behind Brady, but still who knows

The Giants are barely ranked ahead of the Cowboys, and probably because they are seen as having a better front office/GM. So, no, the Cowboys aren't the only team in the league being criticized/ranked low for their future QB situation even though their current QB still seems more than capable. If you don't have a viable QB plan already in place for your 35+ year old QB your ranking is gonna get torpedoed on lists like this. There's nothing right now to give anyone confidence that either Kellen or Dak are viable solutions. It's one reason why the Skins and Eagles are ranked higher than the Giants and Cowboys...the Commanders have a viable QB who will be in his prime years over the next three seasons and the Eagles have (on paper anyway) a more viable QB to develop than Moore and Prescott, and whoever the Giants have behind Eli lol...

And just a reminder, "power rankings"--whether they are about the upcoming season or about the upcoming 3 seasons--are not predictions on how well each team will do, they are just snapshot rankings right now that compare all the teams to each other based on whatever criteria they are ranking. Just like with usual power rankings that change week to week, this ranking could and will change from one offseason to another.

They criticize the front office, lack of a pass rush, Romo's injury history, and not having a good plan in place for his eventual successor. Pretty solid points overall.

Everyone always looking for the negatives and no one looks at the positives.

The FO will be criticized forever. Jerry will never get no matter what he does....win the SB..it's Jimmy, win with Barry, it's Jimmy's team still.....lose it is Jerry...win a SB soon, it's in spite of Jerry.

Yeah, and many on here will disappear until the slightest turmoil, so they can start on their negative / hate agendas again.

Do you ever look at any thing of good stuff. This is a new season, the past is the past.

Can't disagree with some of your post, but there are some circumstance that come into play on some others too. Those adversely effect outcomes. Like try how many injury plagued seasons have derailed us.
Not going to change the owner, and the FO is getting better at what they are doing with the cap and the draft. So look at what is in front of us, not the rear view mirror.

I do not recall you ever posting something positive. Try it. Go look for something good to say.

I'd have a problem with any of the NFCE teams at the bottom of the league, actually. But it's the fact that it's ESPN that people are reacting to. Because, as we've covered, or anyone could decide for themselves if they actually wanted to watch that ship sink some more and had the stomach to turn it on, ESPN only exists to get attention for it's NFL 'content,' and they've had a terminal content problem for years and are finally realizing it.

Three years is a lifetime in the NFL anyway, so the exercise is stupid from the outset (did I mention that ESPN has a problem with garbage content?). Even so, taking a team that's been pretty competitive and is wildly popular and putting it at the bottom of the league in a future fantasy projection is something you do to generate outrage and discussion. It's not a serious exercise in projecting where the league is going.

The negatives are huge factors though. I mean honestly, try to argue with their reasoning.

1) Our QB has had major back surgery and two broken collarbones in the last 2.5 years.
2) The front office run by the Jones' hasn't even seen a NFC Champ game in over 20 years.
3) The coach is a .500 coach with only one playoff appearance in 6 years.
4) One of the biggest keys of any defense is the ability to get to the QB and the Cowboys struggled mightily with that last year and have serious questions this year.

Actually Ryan Nassib seems to be highly thought of when you read about him in NY. It could just be a case of them self promoting or whatever but this is the third year in a row I have read nothing but positive things about Nassib. The giants drafted him and he has sat and I believe next year he will be on a different team.

Probably going to be a tough spot for the giants this offseason, they most likely are going to fire their general manager, I think manning needs a new contract and Nassib is in his last year if I remembering right. With teams like the Bills, Jets, Browns, broncos not having franchise Qb's if nassib has a good summer he could the guy in line to get paid in one of these spots...probably not the jets but one of the others.

I am happy all of the time. See, I am able to separate my real life, which is important, from my sports fan life, which in the grand scheme of things is pretty meaningless.

I call it like I see it. The Cowboys have a very small margin of error currently, they have a lot of question marks, and it's not surprising that anyone who isn't biased like you are would look out 3-4 years and not exactly see sugar plums and roses for the Cowboys. It's actually fairly logical.

I am not biased. I can criticize this team. But when I do, I choose do do so in a different way.
I just am a firm believer, if you are a fan of a team, you look for the positives more than the negatives.
Not just be negative all the time about anything and everything.

I also believe most people can, including myself can separate their lives from sports. If that is what you are implying, as if you are in the minority that do. You are wrong.
And I do not see all sugar plum and roses as you imply. I know there will be challenges. But they will address those also, or will have a chance to address them. But it's not all going down the toilet bowl either as you think it will.
I am looking at this season, and the seasons 3 years from now, well, we will all just need to wait and see.
See, I have separated my self and life from that part of the sport too.

I'm glad ESPN doubts us.. 2014, they said we could possibly be the worst team in our division.. :lmao:12-4 later..

ESPN is just like the media talking politics.. B.S.

I think some have forgotten this.

Still, this is longer term and not about this season. I assume they mean 5 years out.

Seeing that Dallas has one of the youngest rosters in the NFL, I guess it must be all about a future plan at QB. Haven't look at the ratings, but they should also be discounting all the teams who don't have a sure thing backup but have a QB that won't be playing 5 years from now. SD, NO, NYG, AZ, PIT, etc.

Until we find a QB we have no future. It's that simple.

Well, unless Carson Wentz gets cut by the Eagles, our future will be abysmal. I heard the son rises on the shoulders of Wentz, whose PJs Chuck Norris wears to bed.

Didn't they also factor in things like coaches, etc? It shouldn't be shocking that Garrett doesn't exactly instill confidence in people.

Ever notice how some things in life help you see the Ironic side of things? Things that make you go Humm....... Kinda stuff.

For me this is one of those things. I read the title of this thread, "ESPN Sees No Future For The Dallas Cowboys" and couldn't help but think to myself, "Humm... I see no future for ESPN."

Weird, LOL.......

Yeah.
I just looked at the actual article.

They split the grades between
Roster (30%)
QB (20%)
Coaching (20%)
Draft (15%)
Front Office (15%)
