The New York Jets made a statement today with the contract extension for coach Rex Ryan. Ryan was entering the final year of his contract with the Jets and owner Woody Johnson felt it was best to give him a multiyear deal. The Dallas Cowboys' coach, Jason Garrett, enters the final year of his contract and will return. However, there's been no word on giving him a contract extension. This has placed Garrett into a lame duck status. Jerry Jones disagrees about lame duck statuses because his thought process is every player and coach is fighting for a job every year regardless of length of contract.
