News: ESPN Sources: Giants are hiring former Chiefs OC Matt Nagy as their OC

How poor are we talking here? Destitute??
Like young Lamar he can’t throw the football but can run with the best quarterbacks. Lamar is the best running quarterback in the history of the game. I don’t see that with Dart.

Someone already called it, an uninspiring OC hire.

I think Harbaugh's primary guy Moncken getting the Cleveland gig revealed a lack of backup plan Harbaugh did not have in regards to his network of OC buddies. Almost as if he had to settle.

So for me, this is a still TBD choice imo.

Franchise QBs can make lesser coaches appear better than they are.
We'll hafta see if Dart possesses that type of talent.
I don’t think hiring McDaniels is settling. He may not be a god HC but he is a very good OC.

Hard to judge a HC with the talent in Chicago. What do you think made him not very good?
His ability to no adapt.

He would script plays at the beginning of a game, and could not deviate from that. He also will not adapt his system, he is not a good coordinator for Dart. I think it is part of the issue with Fields and his development. He would not play the kid. I understand hindsight is 20/20, and he sucks. There is a reason why Reid is replacing him in KC.

Nagy was a big reason the Chiefs had a sub-par year in 2025.
How so? You do know Andy Reid calls the plays there. Not to mention, it seemed like they only had a mediocre ground game, a poor OL, no Mahomes for 4 games, and they had no WR catch more than 53 passes.

So, do you really blame an OC who doesn’t call the plays and is not responsible for player personnel for that season?

SMH

But, I really don’t know what my team is getting here. I know Nagy was coach of the year in his first year with Mitch Trubiskey as her QB, but then after that season, they reverted to mediocrity (8-8, 8-8, 6-10) before fired. I guess he got blamed for not developing Justin Fields….but he isn’t the only one who hasn’t. For now, I hope for the best and will have to trust our new HC who has a pretty decent resume that allows me to trust him.

I think you meant Nagy instead of McDaniels.
But I'll stand by my yet to be determined/settling opinion based off his most recent offenses at Chicago and KC.
And again with a lean towards uninspiring based off those results.

You're only as good as your last game and all that.

Can’t throw the football? Hmmmm. You obviously didn’t watch many Giant games this season. But I will enlighten you on two particular games:

1. Week 7 in Denver, Giants lost 33-32. I think most knowledgeable NFL fans would admit Denver had a very good defense. Dart in Denver shredded them better than most of the other QBs who faced them.
Dart was 15-33 for 283 with 3 passing TDs, 1 int

2. Week 18 against your boys with a Giants win 34-17
Dart was 22-32 for 230 yds, with 2 TDs and 0 int

Side note: your boy for one half was 7-11 for 70 yards, 0-0
2nd side note: Darts #1 receiver only caught 2 passes all season, Gunner Olszewiski, caught 8-102. The two best WRs were injured- Nabers and Robinson, as well as our starting TE, Theo Johnson

Oh, and please don’t tell me Dart faced your young back ups in the 2nd half. Your team faced most of our back ups all game.

Dart is a promising prospect and back with Cam, gave energy and excitement to a franchise that desperately needs it. I like Dart, reminds me of another tough QB Jeff Garcia.

So this guy got fired in KC because he couldn't make it work with a generational QB like Mahomes, but some fans are worried he's calling plays for the Giants now?

Maybe this will work out for Dart but my initial reaction is not impressed.
Nothing is going to work out for Dart if they dont fix that line

He can’t throw. I watched plenty of Giants games. Dart is so overrated.

I think he's got a great arm and can pinpoint his throws. And I saw quite a few Giants' games last year. My concern, and at least for last year it was borne out, is that he doesn't take care of himself when he runs. Until he does, last year's injury will not be his last injury.

No one should ever point to what their QB did against our defense. That should not be any kind of barometer. We made several poor and backup QBs look like All-Pros.

The three passing TDs against Denver is impressive, but less than 50 percent passing isn't.

lol .. Nagy OC ?good luck on that (NOT). ... from Chi-town to KC .. Nagy's influence on RBs & run game has been so ill- failure...

I had a brain fart and was thinking of the wrong Harbaugh.

I find it ironic that Cowboys’ fans are criticizing the coaching and coordinator hires of other teams when Coach Jones has made the hires that have been responsible for 30 years of mediocrity.

Jackson Dart is a poor man’s version of young Lamar. I am surprised they didn’t bring in the fired Chargers coordinator. He would have developed Dart and the running backs.
Dart is a completely different kind of QB. In the ESPN redraft of the 2025 draft, he went #3 overall. So, big rookie year and a lot better than the "experts" thought he would be.

I’m always surprised to see these characters get another gig after essentially failing for years, sometimes decades. I think if the NFL was more ruthless and progressive on the coaching front we’d be watching a different game by now. For once I see the cowboys making the more forward looking hires this season and I have to say, it feels good. Of course everything could be pants but without risk there is no reward.
