ESPN Stats and Information

Dak Prescott can become the 16th rookie quarterback to start a playoff game in the Super Bowl era (since 1966). Only six rookie quarterbacks won a playoff start, combining for eight total wins. In all eight wins, the rookie quarterback threw for fewer than 200 yards and one or fewer touchdown.

I'd be curious to know how many of those rookies started the entire season, and how many came in later in the season due to injury to a veteran starter, etc. Take Connor Cook with the Raiders just this season, for example. Sure Dak's a rookie just like him, but they are in different leagues at this point in their short careers.

At this point in the season, considering all the reps and experience Dak has gotten in his first 16 games, I almost feel like Dak isn't quite a rookie anymore. Maybe a super-rookie, lol.

Not sure what my point is really, just something I was thinking about.

Yup.

No rookie has had a regular season like Dak. Next up? Dak to shock the world with postseason success.

Imagine Dak posting a passer rating in the 50's and winning, as Roethlisberger and Flacco did in their first playoff games.
I'm just so tired of the rookie QB narrative. I loved Tony, as I know you did, but the stuff this kid has done and the attitude he has brought to the team are missed by the casuals. Yeah no rookie has won the Super Bowl. But none of them have had anything resembling the season he's had. And only one of them had the shot he's got. Sucks that they have to play GB first though.

I actually like the match up, and expect great things from both rookies. Somebody said his new 2nd favorite team would be wherever Tony goes, and that'll probably be true for me too.

Yeah I will say Dallas has smoked bad defenses all year.

All you need to know about the rookie QB in the playoffs narrative: Mr Buttfumble started 2-0 in the playoffs as a rookie

What's not shown is Russell Wilson's next game. He passed for 385 yards, and led the Seahawks from 14 down in the 4th quarter to lead by 1 with 31 seconds left at Atlanta. Their defense blew it, allowing a FG at the gun (30-28). Easily the best performance to date by a rookie QB, but his defense let it slip in the final half minute.
