The always-wacky NFC East is up for grabs -- again

PHILADELPHIA -- Ah, the good old NFC East, where up is down, black is white and you can trade your starting quarterback a week before the season and still find yourself in first place when October dawns.

***large snip***

But the rules clearly state that the NFC East must have a champion and field a playoff team this season. And if the Eagles turn out not to be as good as they look right now, the question of which team that will be is wide open.

***snip***

The Cowboys already have won more games without Tony Romo this season than they did in 12 tries last year. Rookies Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott arekeeping the offense afloat. In the whole NFL, they trail only the Eagles in time of possession, which means the plan to grind out clock and keep the undermanned defense off the field is holding up so far. Pass-rusher DeMarcus Lawrence returns from suspension in Week 5. They're still expecting Romo back around midseason. And while out-of-division trips to Green Bay, Pittsburgh and Minnesota don't look fun, it doesn't appear as if Romo's absence will crush this season the way it did the last. That's some reason for hope in Big D.

Decent read.

For those mocking the Eagles, here's a grade A lesson in why you don't write off teams before the season starts.

Eagles has a tough row to hoe in the next few weeks. Their defense looks tough. Hope our OL plays them well.

Ours ain't no picnic either:

Niners, Bengals, Packers, Bye, Eagles, Browns, Steelers, Ravens, Skins, Vikings, Giants.........

Winning at least two of the next three won't be easy but would be nice.

Philly just destroyed Pittsburgh. What aren't you sold on yet?

Cincy will have AJ Green roaming our secondary and GB at Lambaugh should scare anyone, even in Oct. I'm flat out shocked what the Vikings did to Cam on the road. That's a ridiculous stretch.

Yeah, I'm not sure what more someone wants to see from Philly. A fast, attacking, stout defense, and an offense strongly guided by a rookie QB who is just scratching the surface of his career.

Much props to the Eagles organization for being able to completely rid themselves of the Chip Kelly disaster in a single offseason.

I liked this post, but I don't like it, if you know what I mean.

Division game, we know them and they know us. I think it will be a close game and can go either way, especially if our run game is on point.

Cincy tends to play to their opponents level, much like us......hoping they do just that when we play :D

Philly's D is great. The team is playing great. They aren't running it all that well but their offense is moving the ball down the field with ease. Carson is legit. They had a good win on Sunday but I wasn't surprised the way they did it. I wasn't buying Pittsburgh because of their defense and they showed me why I wasn't buying them. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if we did the same. They have no pass rush either and their secondary is swiss cheese.

Man I thought we were supposed to get an easy schedule. This looks like a rough one for us.
  • Bengals, Packers, Eagles Ouch. We could go 1-2 or 0-3 during that stretch

Unfortunately..

we just got hit with injuries to 2starters..Collins and Dez.

Thats going to change things.

Leary is Ok...

but it looks like Butler is going to have to play.

We just lost 30% of our offense if true.

I knew this was too good to be true the way things were going..

Hmmmm..

We could also go 2-1 and if we do and we're sitting at 4-2 by week 7, I consider that success. Even 3-3.

You could say that about a lot of division this year in the AFC and NFC. I don't see the NFC East as being all that weak compared to some other divisions

If Romo comes back in Week 8 and we're sitting on a 4-3 at that point I'm gonna be absolutely ecstatic.

Don't laugh, it's possible we will be.

Thanks for the info 3 weeks after the seasons started. It will be up in the air till week 10 then one will drop out completely. By week 15 another will drop out and it will be down to two teams just as it is every year but thanks ESPN for the obvious.

We've gotta have tony back...or reality is going to set in for a lot of people here.

Sorry but I too am not yet sold on Philly. But sadly I have to admit they are looking great. Time will tell.

The East could be a little better this year. The Eagles emergence is the biggest surprise besides Dak leading us to a couple wins. Eagles defense could keep them in contention longer than us or NY.

I still expect the North and West to have the stronger divisions when it's said and done and probably both Wild Card teams . Although injury to Russell is going to impact Seattle greatly and could shake it up.

The one thing the East has provided in recent years is the unexpected so we really shouldn't be shocked Philly has emerged except for not expecting a Rookie QB to set fire. No one saw this coming. But the NFL season always has a way of humbling these lofty or over achieving beginnings.

Meanwhile, the Rams are leading the West. The same team that got shut out, 28-0, in the first week.

Think about that.
