So I want to know whose fault this is? The “genius McClay who allegedly is the real GM? If it’s not McClay then is it Jerry who allegedly no longer meddles in this stuff as much? Or is the most convenient scapegoat because McClay would never make a mistake and Jerry allegedly stays out of it for the most part? Someone is to blame but I’m not sure anyone really knows who.

We can thank Romo's **** contract and awful FA signings that had us close to the top in dead money the last 2 years. But I'll give the FO some credit that unlike the eagles and rams we did not plan to have a rookie QB starter on a cheap deal. They set themselves up for it we had to find ours because our starter couldn't take a single hit anymore.

Dak isn’t getting a big deal so this article means nothing.

Romos contract was fair for his play/what he did for the offense.
He signed his extension in March of 2013. Outside of the 2010 season where he broke his collarbone, thanks to a Gronk missed block, he played and started in every year up to the 2013 season.
Sure, you can say you are playing with fire signing a 33 year old to a long term deal but it is shown in the NFL that QB's can play well into their late 30's. Hard to guess he would then **** up his back for good/break his collarbone again.
It wasn't a **** deal, we just had **** luck with his health.

We could of created more cap space this year, but the FO likes to go the cheaper route and hope to hit on starters in the draft. They went from aggressive to super conservative.

He was 33 and had already dealt with a good amount of health issues then we sign him to a 6 year extension. Jerry then tried to sell us that an injury prone QB could play til he was 39 or 40.

Is it really cap mismanagement? We will finally be set up next offseason 70 million under the cap so we can make some moves.

    Click bait article. Lol

It's really not the FO's fault. If we should blame anyone it's Romo for not knowing how to slide or throw the ball away in a preseason game.

The only reason I’m not more upset about Dak is his low salary and they haven’t given him real weapons at WRs.

We’ll see how the season plays out but he may not earn himself an extension but you never know with Jerry.

Ok so this season is just a wash then? If Jerry is thinking like that then Dak and Zeke have built in excuses.

IIRC it was post extension. His back injury suffered against the Redskins in week 15/16 of 2013 never fully healed(IMO) which made him start to take off practice during the subsequent years.

Yea, it's a stretch to think a QB can last that long, but some can get away with it. Obviously Romo wasn't lucky in that regard.

Parcells called it years ago. Jerry should have listened.

Wasting Dak Prescott? That’s a good one. I’d say we are enduring another poor personnel decision. Either that or they ruined him but they are wasting anything at this point. To be wasted something has to be good first.
