This year we knocked on the door!
Next year we will bang on that dadgum door!
And the year after that we will yell out "hey! open the door please!"
The year after that we will knock harder and say "open that door daggumit, you are supposed to open the door!"

Yeah, that will do it you cheap *** owner Jerra.

You get what you pay for and you will get a fat confused spineless HC.

Jerry Jones said after the Cowboys’ 34-3 blowout loss at Minnesota on Sunday that he would meet with Phillips Monday. He gave Phillips a thumbs up for the season, saying the loss does not negate the positives of the Cowboys winning their first playoff game since 1996. “I’ll be sitting down with Wade and then we can kind of address it squarely, that’s what I would like to do,” Jones said. “But I’m pleased with the job he’s done and this game does not have any bearing ultimately on the decision I’ll make. “I certainly will evaluate this game, but this is a game that we know we’ve got to be better than we were today but I don’t have anywhere near the feeling that I had at the end of last year when we were in Philadelphia at season’s end. This is a totally different thing. “We’ve got a foundation we can build on. We’ve got talent, we’ve got talent on the way with young players that we have the chance to keep with continuity and I’m going to do that.” — Dallas Morning News

Sigh!!! 2010 will be another wasted year:mad: ! I would love to be wrong but I have no doubt I won't be. The only way I define success next year is by a SB win or least an appearance that we are EXTREMELY competitive in(3 or less point loss without stupid mistakes). Any post season blowout is not acceptable to me. It amazes me that people are so happy with our single playoff win followed by a blowout. I will not be as disappointed next year because I know it will happen. I will not let this team rip my heart out anymore for stupid decisions like keeping cupcake. I can never root for another team but I am already prepared for failure! I will gladly eat crow for my prediction as I did for the Saints game if I am wrong. I won't be!

This is the worst possible scenario that could happen to the Cowboys. I've gone on record several times this week stating why Wade should no longer be the head coach and it fell on a lot of deaf ears here (understandable since the Cowboys were still riding high).

In the predictions thread a few days ago, I picked the Vikings over the Cowboys by a score of 35-21. One poster started throwing defensive stats at me and why there was no way the Minnesota offense could muster that many points against our vaunted defense. My explanation was very simple, the Cowboys had not played the Vikings in the regular season plus Wade and the team have already gotten that monkey off their backs with their first playoff win. They came in too cocky and over-confident and that falls directly on our head coach for not having them prepared for this matchup.

BTW, I tried to pm the guy who gave me all that static about my prediction but his mail box was too full. I wanted to apologize to him for getting it wrong by giving too much credit to the Cowboys offense.

Perhaps he'll read it here.

Good for Wade, he definitely deserves to come back because of his defense.

On a sidenote, would you guys be interested in taking Norv Turner back? :D

Oddly enough, you're unintentionally correct. He's helped put the team over a hump it couldn't reach in the past 13 years. And the arrow's still pointed up. Add to that he's the winningest head coach in Cowboys history, and I'd say he's earned the right to, at a minimum, keep his job.
Whether he's earned your adoration is another story. He should brush up on his press conference skills for that.

You know (along with everyone else that's a fan of this team knows) that this IS NOT how we measure success for our team. It is all about the playoffs and the Superbowls. The regular season is merely a passage of time designed to entertain all of us until the real season begins (the playoffs). We have always pointed out the number of our Superbowl victories to fans of other teams that try to give us flak. That is the only measure of success that should count around here.

Simply speaking, that dog just won't hunt.

Well, I guess it is nice to know we are throwing away next year already. Jerry seems fixated on this whole uncapped season and seems content with mediocrity. Sadly, I thought after the improvements under Parcells, 3 very bad season ending losses under Wade would help Jerry make an improvement but I guess his threshhold is still three 5-11 seasons. I have faith though that Wade will get us three 5-11 seasons so a competent HC will be brought in.

This loss was worse than the 2006 loss against he Pats. In fact I felt like I was in a time machine watching pretty much the same exact game unfold before my eyes.

It wasn't just the missed field goals either, it was sloppy uninspired play, horrendous penalities due to a lack of discipline and really just an overall respect for the opponent.

This team wasn't prepared, and that falls on coaching. And the worse part is we don't even have past superbowl wins to fall back on.....

Didn't want Wade hired in the first place, should of been fired after last years game in Philly and is a waste of time bringing him back next year, he's a Jerry Jones puppet....WADE WILL NOT LEAD THIS TEAM TO A SUPERBOWL, period!!!

But you have to also be careful that you don't waste your talent. The Cowboys are a young team but on the brink of greatness. You need to make sure you have a coach that can take that talent to the next level.

If we're still in a holding pattern two years from now, it will all be a waste especially when you have a team that has the potential to get to the Super Bowl.

You are absolutely correct with this assessment. The way the NFL is designed now with emphasis on parity, your chance at success (winning Superbowl) is such a short window.

I just hope that ours hasn't closed yet. :(

I'm sure other teams would like to have Wade as a DC as well, but how many teams would like to have Wade the HC?

Craig

Good point but since we're calling a spade a spade here, isn't Wade really just the DC and head coach in name only for the Cowboys?

Give him a 7 year deal , he's a wonderful coach , a swell guy, a loving son, has a hot daughter and you just wanna feel sorry for him. Great great coach, great mind and his team is always so disciplined ; penalties are few an far between - the Cowboys are also always ready to play hard for him.

Heck make it 10.

Got any pics of that hot daughter?

Why would the window close? Is Tony going somewhere?

I wonder how many coaches and players (especially QBs) has this same sentence been used against and been proven wrong.

I think that's the million dollar question. Is Wade in charge of every facet of the team or not? Nobody seems to truly no or just doesn't want to say yeah or nay.If Jerry would just come out and say Wade is coming back and Jason is going to move on in another direction that would clear alot of things up about this team.Jerry needs to say Jason or Wade is the guy,or even come out and say that it all goes through him.Part of the problem with this team in my estimation is bad culture and part of the cure for that problem is annointing either Wade or Jason as the clearcut HC.
