IRVING, Texas -- We've got some tidbits to chew on Monday:

Returner Allen Rossum said he's waiting on the trainers to allow him to start running this week. Rossum hasn't played since pulling his hamstring in his first game with the Cowboys on Oct. 25.

"I feel as good as I can feel," Rossum said. "I don't want to go out there and run half speed. They're letting me rehab more and more each day."

Wade Phillips dismissed the notion the team would try to sign another offensive lineman with the loss of starting right tackle Marc Colombo.

Phillips likes his depth at this position, so he wants to see if some of these younger players -- Doug Free, Pat McQuistian -- can actually play.

Outside linebacker Anthony Spencer had one of his best games with the Cowboys on Sunday. Spencer had 10 tackles, two for a loss. Overall, the Cowboys had 19 pressures on Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and four sacks.

There could be a change on kick returns. Felix Jones, who averaged 19 yards a return Sunday, still looks tentative. Kevin Ogletree returned one kick for 22 yards, but Phillips said he didn't see much difference.

Still, the Cowboys have to be slightly concerned with Jones' lack of big-play ability in this area since he hurt his knee in Week 3 against Carolina.

Have you noticed that wide receiver Miles Austin hasn't caught a pass in the first three quarters the last two games? All of his catches -- five for 69 yards and one touchdown -- have occurred in the fourth quarters.

They need to get the ball to Miles Austin more...
Impossible since we have to run the ball more. Read the Jason Garrett playcalling thread. We throw the ball too much.

:laugh1:

we should just kick field goals on first down from here on out until Jason Garrett gets his head out of his 4th point of contact!!

The two of those don't have to be independent of each other.

Actually Austin had his chances last week...but he had a drop or two and/or Romo couldn't get it to him. But the run game is more important than getting the ball to Austin.

No, moving the ball down the field effectively is more important than either.

Amen. And not finding ways to get your most explosive offensive player involved before the 4th quarter is mind boggling.

I don't see what the two things have to do with each other but miles did have some opportunities earlier in the game than the 4th. If you're satisfied with the ratio from the last game, more power to you but clearly something went wrong.

At times. There is a time and place for all things. Generally we don't run enough. Who's to say how many more offensive plays we would have if we ran the ball more esp on first down.

We didn't run the ball enough Sunday. And we didn't run enough screens yada.

If they matriculated the ball down the field better then we wouldn't be having this conversation.

It is what it is. Still it's only one game. Let's see what Sunday brings us.

And when we don't run the ball, that doesn't happen.
