ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Boldin Asks For Trade

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Anquan Boldin has again made it clear to the Cardinals that he wants to be traded.

Boldin, due $2.5 million in 2008 salary, wants Larry Fitzgerald money (four years, $40 million) in a new deal. Mort says Philadelphia still has interest and Dallas would certainly get involved if the Cards made Boldin available, but that's unlikely.

Rod Graves, if you can't make this happen for me, can you at least put enough pressure on Matt Millen to make that one happen?

Either guy...no preference.

Boldin will remain a Cardinal this year, and in the offseason, they will find a way to resign him.

If they have no plan to give him the big bucks, they should try and get a #1 for him. I'd give our 2009 #1, considering it will be pick #32 and there's a good chance we'll never get a guy with his production that low.

If we do get our hands on a big time vet WR now or next winter, i just can't see how Jerry can keep giving these huge deals.

Nah, I'd keep our number one pick and continue to build a core through the draft. The younger wideouts, Austin, Hurd, and Stanback will do just fine.

Keep an eye on Stanback this year and next.

Laughable.

Hurd will be average at best. Stanback wont blossom until next year.
Austin has the most potential. I think he could be a good number 2 receiver.

I think it would be good to give a number one pick for Boldin

None of them are going to be a #1 WR in the NFL...possibly #2s and good #3s.

Boldin is a #1 and we will need that once TO retires.

I just don't know if Boldin is worth giving up a 1st rounder. Especially since I am one of those who believes in building through the draft.

Besides, Chris Henry will be coming off his one year suspension. And he'll be cheap. :laugh1:

Kidding!!!!

WRs are hard to find, period. When 1 comes available and you need one, you have to go get him.

Like someone said before, we will be giving up practically a 2nd round pick for him and he's definitely worth that.

TO & Boldin would be remarkable. Plus, I live in AZ and ALL of my friends are Cards fans, & it would be AWESOME to rub this in their face :D

I am not in favor of trading a #1 for him. TO has a few years left in him. I am much more in favor of taking a WR with our #1 pick and trying to develop him for that #1 spot. We don't have this endless amount of money.

The track record for first round WRs is 50/50 at best. To get a certified elite one for sure is well worth the pick.

If AZ is stupid enough to screw this up it is a no brainer IMO.

i can't believe we're actually debating over whether or not to give up a first round draft pick for him.. if it were possible, it's an absolute no brainer.. like someone mentioned before, WRs taken in the first round are 50/50, plus we will be picking at the very bottom of the first round.. Boldin is one of the top 10 WRs in the NFL.. shoot, i'd give up a first and a third for him..

We could be darn near unstoppable with this lineup.

Romo to:

  • TO
  • Witten
  • Boldin or Williams
  • Crayton
  • Austin
  • Hurd
and
  • Barber
  • Jones
  • Choice and co.
As long as we execute.

This might be the year to get that last piece. We are THAT close I believe.

Considering where we will be picking, the Cards won't take just a #1 for Boldin. They will want more. Either a mid round draft pick or possibly a player.

Rather than spend one of the last picks in round one on a WR, I've make the trade to get Boldin.

I, for one, am willing to spend Jerry's money, and hopefully, Adam will tell us that is no problem.

It doesn't matter who we have receiving if the O-line cannot pick up the blitz. That is what I am hoping improves this year. Buy Romo sometime and anyone will get open. We had absolutely no time in the 2nd half of the playoff loss to the Giants.

The guy wants $10 mil/yr. No way that fits in the Cowboy cap without a lot of pain. Forget it. Miles was doing just fine before the sprain. No need to jump the gun and do something foolish and have to pay for it for the next 4 years.

Defenses tend to blitz a lot less when they are scared to get beat deep. With a line-up including Boldin at the #2 receiver and T.O. at #1, I doubt the Giants and Eagles will take a bunch of chances leaving their DB's one on one too often.

The 2nd half of the Giants game had a lot to do with the OL being a little gassed but more to do with the fact that Owens was not the same after his touchdown catch. His high ankle sprain limited him big time and the Giants realized that he couldn't get over top of their DB's and NO ONE else could hurt them in one on one match-ups (Crayton had a bad day, Glenn was not healthy, Hurd was not able to get open, and Austin's hands were hit or miss). That is why the Giants sold out and came after Romo the way they did. In the 1st two games a healthy T.O. made them pay for blitzing with huge days and multiple TD's, in January there was no threat in the 2nd half.

Boldin or Roy Williams to go with Witten and Owens would change a lot of defensive philosophies. Trust me.
