Euphoria in Seattle wearing off

Why should he give a hometown discount? As a professional athlete you have a limited window of when to make your money. Just because he wants to be paid market value, doesn't mean he is a "me" guy. Its easy for people not in the position to make the kind of money he makes to say you would sell yourself short.

I don't care if he gives a hometown discount or not. I don't care if he gets market value or not. I don't care how much money he makes or doesn't make.

What makes me loathe him is his behavior on the field.

The thread title might as well just read "agents in Seattle picking up phones"

players go for the money because most organizations don't show loyalty, so why should they? They'll get cut in an instant if it's beneficial for the organization and they are playing in a very violent game, so the players will go get their cash while they can.

I am sure his agent talked to him just as Ware's agent did after we lost to the Eagles. Everyone says thing they regret after the high and lows in life.

Yeah this. After he said he had not talked to his agent yet I knew he had talked to his agent.

For an agent, we are talking about a huge chunk of money to take less. His percentage gets a lot more - hundreds of thousands of dollars more - with the best deal and now are talking about a guy whose bank account is likely not full at all.

And of course his agent has called him by now - that's ridiculous in itself. His agent probably told him to say this.

Schneider drafts well and will more then likey be able to find stop gap 1 year replacements this coming offseason.

Unlike both our franchises, he has a long term plan in place and has thusly been able to accumulate long term depth.

I think the Seahawks will still be at the top of the NFC even if they lose Tate and Bennet along with paying Sherman and Thomas

A smart GM in sync with his HC will keep Seattle talented for the rest of this decade

I have a dream that someday before I leave this world that the Cowboys will have a GM and a Coach like the Seahawks.
Think about ii - a GM that "drafts well" and knows the kind of players he needs to fit their system, and who is in "sync with his coach." I love the last sentence. "A smart GM in sync with his HC will keep Cowboys talented for the rest of this decade."
Dream on Bob dream on!

LOL at those winners, and things that might or might not happen to them after they have won everything.

my goodness, I WISH Dallas had the problems that Seattle has.....I would love to be complaining about not keeping people because their value may be higher after a super bowl win....

gotta say about Tate, being a staunch ND fan, I love4d him in college. but, he is easily my least favorite former ND player in the NFL....not even close....

The only thing tate does that is better than average is run after the catch. They would be wise to let him walk.

The only reason they have cap issues is exceptional drafting and now having to find a way to keep them. They can let Tate walk and still be a contender. It's after next season with Sherman, Thomas, and Wilson needing contracts that things get dicey.

They'll still have a great young core after that. Keep drafting well and they'll continue to be a NFC force.

Even the most casual fan knows that Seattle won't be able to keep everybody.

Perhaps Carroll and Schneider know this as well and have a plan going forward.

It will be interesting to see.

Tate is the classic guy you let go if you are a young and deep team. Harvin is a better returner than Tate and Hardin also has the big contract. Doesn't Seattle also have Sydney rice? Plus, they have other younger receivers who may continue to get better. I think you let Tate go and take a receiver in the first couple of rounds in the draft.

Golden Tate may be one of the least valuable starters on that team.

Agree there, he is one of the replaceable players on that team. I'm sure the GM and Carroll have a plan of keeping the key core group together and then replacing guys like Tate via draft or FA. That's what real GMs do. They may not repeat, but will be up there with SF as legit SB contenders this decade. And then have a GREAT home field advantage doesn't hurt.
