Well, perhaps here's a unique chance for you. The site below is a new idea in film making.

http://www.pubfilms.com/

This is the first ever publicly funded movie project. You can help choose the actors who audition and the music they use for background as well as several other ways to contribute. If you are an aspiring actor or actress you have a chance to be involved that way too. Want to write for the script? Here's your chance.

On the upper right you'll see a picture with the movie called "Mogollon." Click on it and then watch the trailer. I like the concept.

Oh yeah, two things. First, I apologize for the Commanders jacket that appears at the beginning of the trailer. That is actually the High School my wife graduated from. Her only fault. :D

Second, the priest in the trailer scene is actually my brother-in-law. He's a Doctor in that town and a real clown. I was a little shocked to see him in the trailer.

Okay, how do I know about this? The director of this project (Mike Bast) filmed a Documentary movie that I wrote for The History Channel and he sent me an e-mail invitation about this. He lives in the Phoenix area and is a real good guy despite being a Rams fan.

Through the e-mail I was invited to the launch of this production on November 30th, but was unable to attend. I understand it was a huge success. I'm not surprised actually. This is a great concept.

At any rate, if you've ever wanted to get involved in a movie, here's a unique chance. Mike has asked me to do some scene and dialogue writing for him for this. I'm not exactly versed in writing for mysteries like this. I'm not sure I'm right. If you are, please contact them. Take me off the hook. :D

Anyway, just thought I'd pass this along if anyone wants to be involved in the movies. I think the entire production including camera operators, gaffers, etc. will be people who want this to be their break.

Like I said, I've been on a movie set and in a film (mine) and I had a blast. You never know, it might be fun.

Man... I could of made this much funnier if I'd thought it out a bit more.

Here, let me try again...

Yeah, but after I auditioned Vivid Video didn't call me back. I was in & outta there quick too! Only took up about 2 mins of the directors' time.

Zing!

Ahhhh... no wonder they didn't call me back. They wanted a gay actor. Duh, I guess the title of the movie - Buff Butt Breaker - should of clued me in on that one.

Thanks, this looks interesting.

I'm a huge History Channel junkie, what was the name of the documentary? I've likely seen it, I bet I've seen everything the HC's done for the past 10 years, TWICE!! :wink2:

There was a gunfighter series that unfortunately was short lived. Forgotten Gunfighters. The sub tile was "The Pleasant Valley War." I wrote the lead documentary in that 13 part series and had a contract to write 6 more of the 13, and it fell through after only filming 2 and part of a 3rd. I was still paid though.

I won 3 awards for my documentary. A Telly Award, an AXIEM award, and runner up in the Festival of the West Film series.

I think the only person on the site who has seen my film is BrainPaint and that's because he converted it to DVD for me. Pinerim.com used to have copies of the VHS version available for sale on their site. I think they still do.

I am now doing that documentary as a full length feature film. I've pitched it to a couple of big names, but no sale. I am in the process since I stepped down here of re-writing it to make it more attractive.

I am calling the film version "The Land of Cain."

Thank you.

One of the characters really fascinated me, that is not to say the others were not interesting because they were, but for me Commodore Owens really stood out.

Cool, thks for the info. "The Pleasant Valley Wars" I'm failure with, not clear on where I remember it from though.

BTW, is the award for a Telly, a bronze lollipop and one of those bald skull-cap thingies?' :D

It looks like that. Mine is in the studios that filmed the documentary.

Oh, I am not at all shy in discussing the Pleasant Valley War. So if you want any of the stories and stuff surrounding it let me know. It is fascinating.

H, You ever listen to this syndicated show?

Red Steagall, who I assume you're failure with, does a good job on this program, and the guests are almost always really interesting. I listen every week on Sat mornings at 6 a.m. in the PU on the way out to feed stock.
I'm familar with his cowboy poetry, not this radio show. I met him and Baxter Black (hilarious guy) at either the Tombstone Days or Festival of the West celebrations a few years ago. I can't remember which one they were at.

Off Topic but when I was doing those documentaries one of the ones I was studying for was on the Buffalo Soldiers. I was offered a chance to be an honorary officer with the Buffalo Soldiers re-enactment group and march in parades with them.

I still very much want to write that film.
