Football is a game of inches and yards, a game of numbers. There are no other sports where stats are so crucial to the game.
This is why we decided to find all the stats we could gather to help us make our point: The Dallas Cowboys’ QB Tony Romo should be named the 2014 NFL MVP.
While many will dismiss Romo and point towards league-leading RB DeMarco Murray, we point towards a few stats that only two other QBs have hit before him: Hall of Famers Tony Montana & Steve Young:

If it’s true that MVPs are made when it matters most…

Excellent stuff. Very impressive numbers. Almost a no brainer to make Romo MVP.

I don't think he wins it nor will he get any real consideration.

The award is annually given to the most productive QB on a playoff contender. Of course, they'll make an exception this season because that QB is Tony Romo.

If Green Bay wins next week, Rodgers will get it. If GB lays an egg, look for Watt to win. Personally, I think any of the three is a deserving winner, but it's true that Tony will not get his due consideration.

Tony is unfortunately not going to get an opportunity to make his case stronger: I doubt he plays more than a quarter next week.

If Romo plays against Arizona and we win he would be the MVP.

But if he goes out sunday and throws for another three touchdowns with no interceptions and Rodgers struggles then I think he may win it.

Awesome article. The man should certainly be in the conversation. I think he would be the most deserving candidate if he had played and won the Arizona game.

My only quibble:

There are no other sports where stats are so crucial to the game.

Yeah, no, baseball by far.

They will give it to JJ Watt. There is no way they would admit Romo is more deserving than Rodgers or Brady or Manning. No way.

The only stat I need on Romo is a second playoff win. period point bank americard.

You do know that "a second playoff win" is a team accomplishment? Right?

Romo could have a huge day individually, throw for 400 yards and 5 TD, score 48 points, ... and we could still lose. <cough,Denver, cough>

Romo is a real good QB. For someone that is as involved as you seem to be, it is a shame that you do not realize that yet.

Yeah I'd take that trade off

Considering that they announce it the day before the super bowl, if we are in the super bowl we might be able to live with that story line. On the other hand, if we can get through the NFC I think we can beat whoever comes out of the AFC.

Well he has my vote!!!! Too bad my vote isn't an official one. Unfortunately the same anti-Cowboy bias that keeps some retired Cowboys out of the HOF will probably keep Romo from winning a title he deserves this season.
