Clearly Hatcher is better than any DL currently playing for Dallas.
DWare looks reborn and is showing his pass rush form now that he's back in the 3-4 as an OLB.

Not bemoaning the facts. Hatcher had to go take a contract we couldn't give, and Ware was a bit of a flop at DE...that may be due to injuries, but playing DE at a heavier weight and mixing it up with OTs every play can have that effect.

While I never liked the 3-4 as a defense that didn't fit my old timer Cowboys fan sensibilities, I have no doubt our defense would be considerably better if we were still in the 3-4.

In the 3-4, we never found the right type of DE's who could hold up and still bring a consistent pass rush. Now we are in the 4-3 with a plethora of DT types and no one who looks like a DE. We have to hope we can find some real DEs in free agency or the draft.

Great team win today after a terrible start. If we can avoid laying at egg at home vs NO next Sunday night, hope will definitely be alive.......for a while.

well if we did not overpay for crybabies like Ratliff and a one year wonder wr in Austin and overated corner like carr we might have had money to keep both players.

He created the safety, didnt he? And blew up wilson right before that.

It was going to happen with or without Ware.

But fact of the matter is, we couldn't warrant paying Ware all that money for 6 sacks a year. THey chose to go with depth of overpaid veterans.

I have/had no doubt in my mind Ware will have a decent season. He has some CRAZY talent around him in Denver. But we paid him like a superstar.....and he warranted that contract but as of now? He's no longer the guy who you can build your defense around. He has to be part of a defense where he can take a back seat.

In regards to Hatcher, I don't think anyone thought he'd lose it. It was just one of those situations where he was 32 and had the best year of his career.

All in all, even with Hatcher and Ware? This defensive line is still the same. This defensive front IMO isn't losing a beat because of those guys.

Isn't Demarcus Lawrence and Henry Melton just that?

Melton is a FA vet, not a draft pick. DLaw is a biscuit or two shy of being the prototypical 4-3 DE and to me is more of a 3-4 OLB. He is supposed to be a situational pass rusher so that remains to be seen since he's out with an injury..
