I do that a lot, too. Like for instance, a woman will tell me to take off, and I'll form my own opinion of what she meant, based on what she said. Usually amounts to me thinking that she wants me to take her home. I mean, all I'm doing is just adding a couple of words, but it's weird how it never seems to work out like I think it should.

"I know you think you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant."

I think you're being a bit ridiculous.. that's my opinion based on the words you just said.

Kinda not suprised though, that you're example happend to be a woman telling you to take off.

:)

Safeties are what worries me the most, even more than guards. I hope Wilcox, Johnson, Allen and Church are enough quality.

From reports the safety play has been solid. The OG play has been what they've been worried about but Leary has really impressed already. Talkin Cowboys guys were talking him up. Broaddus also thinks that Bernadeau will end up being the RG.

On running downs, im sure we'll see a safety in the box a good amount of time.

I don't know. They are going to shoot gaps and hope to disrupt the running play. They are going to have to rely on the rest of the guys to keep the ball in front of them. This defense plays mostly a bend don't break type of philosophy with the addition of take the ball away from the offense.

Hopefully they sneak the safety up on some plays they suspect will be a running play. Ideally, you want to stop the run with your front seven and not involve the safety. Practically speaking you are going to play some run blitzes yada including using a safety for run support. The corners must support the run defense in Kiffin's D. They are an integral part of manning the 5 and 5+ holes.

BTW, I didn't mean to imply that S play had been bad. Only that it's more important, generally, to have good Safety play than it is to have really good OG play.

Hey, I resemble that remark! Yes, I was being ridiculous. However, I would hope you could see the fallacy of taking a few words that someone said and extrapolating your own opinion from it, especially when it's in print and you're adding words to it.

Im not sure if you realize this.. but looking at a statement that someone says and forming an opinion of what they meant is something that people do LITERALLY every single day.

Even if you wanted me to just use his own words, he clearly stated that Church is a guy who can be reckless and not very dependable at times because he's too busy going for the big hit. Im saying i appreciate aggressiveness, but on this team.. i'd rather our safeties play it, well.. safe.. and simply play the deep halves and not let up any big plays. Im sick of being a team that lets up so many big plays down the field. It hurts us far too often.

Yes, and they get things wrong LITERALLY every single day, because they're misinterpreting what the other person said. Just because people do something all the time, doesn't make it right.

Some are wrong and some are right.. its called making an educated guess. Not that it really matters, as i've already pointed out what his own words said on their own.

One safety can't cover both sides of the field deep. We've tried that before.. doesn't work out well. I doubt we see alot of single high safety in Kiffin's scheme. It will be alot of Cover 2, Cover 3, and Tampa 2, most likely. Both safeties will be interchangable.

Im sure we'll see it.. i don't think it will be very often though.
You can hear the head coach on the subject. Brings up using single high safety. (7:30 mark)

So JG basically confirms what i already said, different coverages, not Tampa 2 every down. How much of each they'll play, we'll just have to wait and find out. Alot of it will be decided by how our corners play, most likely.
No, you didn't think it would be often. He made it pretty clear by bringing up that people have it wrong thinking they are Tampa 2 only.

..and i still don't think it'll be often.. and he said nothing in that audio clip that confirms otherwise.

Also, if you actually read my posts, it'll be clear to you that i never thought we'd be running ONLY a Tampa 2 cover scheme. Hell, the post that you quoted to show me that audio clip is proof of that, lol.

So are you blind or do you just refuse to see things that don't fit with what you're trying to argue?
