He is on the radio now talking about the Cowboys and the Playoffs in general. Historically, most coaches are pretty tight lipped about what they are going to do in a meaningly game, not sure what his point is. However, here is why he feels the way he does:

<Brian Mitchell>

The way Wade Phillips is going about this helps the Skins. Now, it means the Skins will prepare like they are going to play their starters.

If Wade Phillips would have said that they were going to play backups Monday, then it would have been better for the Cowboys. It could have possibly affected the Skins mentally in a negative manner, even though Gibbs would not have allowed that.

</Brian Mitchell>

Basically he is saying if the Cowboys would have said Monday that starters wouldn't play, then the Commanders would possibly ease up mentally because they would be playing backups and it would be a cakewalk.

Interesting take, I disagree totally and think it is a bit a reach, but it is interesting.

It's a reach, but I was thinking the same thing. I was wondering if the Skins would have a let down knowing they're going to play our scrubs?

You never know. I don't expect it ... but stranger things happen.

13-3 is still a pretty amazing record.

I think he's right. It would only be natural for a team to think to itself "***, why is Romo still in the game at the end of the first half when he wasn't supposed to be playing at all" and get discouraged if they are losing or it's close. My guess is that coaches have a code where some deception is ok, and some is not, and Wade might feel like that would be unsportsmanlike.

Yeah we know, you think we stand no chance against the mighty Foreskins. This must be the third thread you've made that assertion in.

Are you going to make excuses for the Skins if we win the game? Just curious.

So Mitchell is taking a shot at Wade because he's not following the genius Gibbs' lead and putting all the disinformation out there?

13-2 Brian. 13-2. Don't cry too hard.

Sorry buddy ... if you really believe our backups are going to beat the Commanders, I have a bridge to sell you.

Don't you guys find it weird that he contradicts himself in that statement?

"Oh, yeah the Cowboys should have come out and said they were going to play backups so they could game a mental edge but Joe Gibbs would not have allowed the Skins to have a mental breakdown."

So if Gibbs would have made sure the team was ready mentally, why is it such a big deal that Wade Phillips didn't declare the starters out on Monday?

To me, this type of statement comes from a fan of a team that is on the ropes and has to come up with all kinds of things to make themselves feel better and sleep good at night.

Alot of coaches coaching teams playing in meaningless games are being tight lipped and saying all the right things, but yet he criticizes Wade Phillips.

He is reaching.

Come on, we all know that the Cowboys are going to rest certain players.

This really isn't rocket science.

End of the day, I'm sure we'll play hard whether it's our 1st, 2nd or 3rd stringers. But this game has much, much more significance for the Commanders.

We pretty much already know that TO, Gurode, Watkins, most likely Ratliff and Newman won't be playing. Also, we can pretty much gather that Barber and Romo and Glenn are going to get limited reps.

I'm pretty sure Wade would get in trouble from the league if he lied about it... said the starters weren't playing and then started them.

They watch the injury reports pretty closely for deliberate misinformation so I think they'd be against this kind of disinformation as well.

Yeah, we stand no chance against an offensive juggernaut like the Commanders.

As Fat Tuna likes to say, you are what you are, and the Skins are an 8-7 team with a 10 year career backup QB and an OL decimated by injuries. You also have to take into account the murder of Sean Taylor and the return of Terry Glenn.

I'd say we stand a pretty good chance of winning the game. Course, I don't look at everything with a defeatist attitude either.

A coach can't get into trouble for saying the starters will rest and then they play. You don't have to list players on injury reports if you are sitting them and playing backups.

Now if he put them on the injury report as out and they play. That's something different.

One of these days you will learn to put Eddie on the ignore list the rest of us.

If I could predict the future, I'd be a rich man.

But the Skins are not a bad team and we're fielding scrubs. I don't like our chances.

I like mitchell but he's reaching. This isn't gibbs first Commander/cowboy rodeo. He said last week that they were preparing for the cowboys best. I have a hard time believing the skins will let down regardless of who's on the field. Too much on the line.

For the record BMitch is no Skins fan. They had a bitter breakup, and he reems them constantly on his show.

I don't know about Brian Mitchell not being a Skins fan.

He was on Doc Walker's show the first time we played the Commanders and he was bragging about how he could step on the field today and be a factor against the Cowboys. During the interview, to me, he made it known that he had much love for the Skins, as disgusting as that is :D .

He may not be the biggest Skins fan alive, but he certainly cannot stand the Cowboys. He talked about how the Cowboys always talked trash and that is why nobody liked the Cowboys.

The man clearly hates us :laugh2: .

Brian Mitchell definately has love for the Skins.

He is on the radio now throwing out a bunch useless stats like:

Joe Gibbs is 6-3 against the Cowboys after December 1st, where the games matter most.

I wonder how true that stat is.
