VALLEY RANCH — When it comes to lockers, Geoff Swaim might’ve drawn the shortest straw.

Swaim, like many rookies, has been forced into a shared locker as the Cowboys carry a bloated preseason roster. But Swaim’s is in a corner. Next to space-eating offensive linemen.

Such is the life for a seventh-round pick (246th overall) who walked into an already established tight end group. Jason Witten is the clear starter and one of the best to have played the position. Backup Gavin Escobar was the Cowboys second-round pick just two years ago. Third-stringer James Hanna has spent the past three years with the Cowboys, playing in every game...

Hmm. Judging from from the the picture his worst assignment looks like big orange balls scrunching. Don't know if I would be happy with that either. I'd look to sign with Chargers, where that would be at least blue.

Swaim's only problem was he picked a crappy college to play football.

The University of Texas, which had Drew Brees and Andrew Luck grow up in its back yard and couldn't get either one. Same for RG3, Matthew Stafford, Nick Foles, Ryan Tannehill, Johnny Manziel, Andy Dalton, Bryce Petty, Greg McElroy, Josh McCown........

Just can't seem to find a quarterback. LOL

He was a Juco transer from California. UT was probably his best offer. He didn't have a QB in junior college either.

Seems like some are down on Hanna, and I can't figure out why. He's an excellent blocker, and very valuable in the run game. He has also displayed good hands, and athletic ability. I believe he could put up good numbers if given a chance as a receiver.

But but, they had Chris Sims (how much did they pay him to come from NJ??), and the legend Colt McCoy (in Brent Musburger voice). Lmao

He's a formerly awful blocker that has improved to reasonable. Let's not get carried away.

His hands were highly questionable at Oklahoma, where he made good plays but mostly disappeared for long stretches. Same here.

I've seen every game he's played since he was in a freshman. He teases, but he's very spotty in his play.
