After learning of Smith’s contract extension, Bryant, who is in the last year of his rookie deal, tweeted Wednesday: “Congrats 77. Well deserved.”

Yea it sure sounds like he's selfish and is going to hold the team hostage. lol

I don't get it people assume Bryant is being difficult? based on what? does this mean Tyron was being difficult until today when he signed his? This is business and Dez is doing what he should be doing working his tail off and letting his agent deal with the organization. In terms of any offers or counter offers I have not heard of one nor do I know when they actually sat down to talk about a deal same goes for Tyron.

Nelson hasn't put together those sort of numbers consistently. Last year was by far his best but it was his first time over 70 catches.

Dez has two straight years with 90+ catches, 1200+ yards, and 12+ TDs.

In the NFL over the last two years, 20 times has a player hit the 90 catch mark. Dez account for two of those instances. He's also had the 3rd most TD catches in the league both of those years.

That friends is pretty special.

Just because the player is special doesn't mean that he is affordable. Frankly i would trade him for a #1 and spend his 10-12 million a year on defensive players.

Yes. Let's do that so we can have both a mediocre offense and a mediocre defense.

Yea cause I think with T-Will as our #1 receiver we're a definite super bowl lock.

Broaddus just said on the fan that Dez's people have a figure in place from the team that they are mulling over. Said the Cowboys were committed to getting a deal done fairly soon.

10-11 would be a very nice amount of money for anything that a person is doing.

Dez Bryant isn't going to agree to less per yer than Wallace. Which means his lowest level of pay per year is probably the 13 million a year range.

Yeah I did not consider that fact.....

Well hopefully 13 is something he will take, and not 16

I don't expect a difficult negotiation. He wants to be here and they want him here. It'll get done.

Same here. Not worried. The two deals have probably been connected for a while. You never heard about one without the other.

People are misunderstanding what difficult negotiations entails. This has nothing to do with Dez's personality, rather what he thinks he is worth as opposed to what the Cowboys think he is worth.

The wide receiver market is dynamic at the moment because of two of the top contracts, if Dez believes he should get something close to them, I think him and the Cowboys would be far apart. If it was a simple matter of 10-12 million, I think the book would have closed already.

As for Smith, I think the negotiations weren't difficult. They happened early in training camp, I don't think Dez's contract will be soon, but who knows maybe it'll happen tomorrow and I'll have some egg on my face.

Dez Bryant - WR - Cowboys
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Clarence Hill says the Cowboys have "plenty of space" under the salary cap to extend Dez Bryant.

This conflicts with a report from Ian Rapoport, who said Tyron Smith's $98 million extension would make a new contract for Bryant "nearly impossible." Hill disagrees, saying the Cowboys still have "a little less that $10 million" in cap space. Regardless of the logistics, it does not appear Dallas and Dez are close to an agreement.

You can't leave his personalty out of the equation. That is a big part of it b/c lets face it, Dez is going to give a hometown discount. I guarantee you he takes less than what he truly believes his worth is.

You can always wait, that way Dez can have a monsterous career year and demand 16 plus. Jerry screwed up by not signing him last year, now he's a pro bowler and a feared receiver. He should take the max like any of us would.
