I am expecting the Cowboys to be far more aggressive in fa this offseason, but don't think they will be hunting star type A free agents. With so many positions to address and a new defensive coaching staff in place, expect them to target more role players who they have coached in the past:

CP-Eagles, Broncos, Packers
Ansley Passing Game Coordinator-Packers, Chargers
Ryan Smith DB Coach-Cardinals
Dixon DL Coach-Vikings/Broncos

Well...if you read the tiers thread on defensive players there really arent many star fa players to go after....its a very work pale type of FA for defense which could hurt bc players are going to get way over valued...we will see

One very interesting point that CP made in a recent interview , he basically said you need first round talent on the defensive front. This gap and a half scheme requires upper echelon talent. So it’ll be interesting to see if they target those players in the draft as opposed to FA. There aren’t many upper tier players available on the DL in FA anyways. But I don’t expect them to sign role players on the DL should they sign DL in FA

We need to get some more upper picks to get these upper players!! Only two picks then a break until the 4th round yikes!! They better hit hard if they can't find a trade partner

See that is the issue with free agency. You have to be careful and not overpay average players. Parker has a plan so I am confident he will bring in the right guys. Sadly we really screwed up our defensive drafts the last 7 years.

Problem with this free agency is you are gonna pay top dollar for mediocrity. People complain about Brandon Carr. That’s this free agency class.

And everyone is trying to fix their holes before the draft so the competition will be steep.

We already pay top dollar for mediocrity. We do it every year. Logan Wilson was set to make $6.5 million until someone on CP’s staff decided to cut him. I think even Kenneth Murray get paid more than that, at around 7.5 million per. year.

So why not pay $8–9 million a year for guys like Devin Bush, Nakobe Dean, or Leo Chenal? Any one or all of them is an instant upgrade, and it’s barely more than the bargain-bin players we sign every year. At least you’d be paying for proven talent instead of hoping it works out.

As for Brandon Carr, I don’t buy the idea that he was a failure. That’s just an excuse the Cowboys FO uses to avoid signing quality starters at positions of need.

Yep if ever there was a year to not be too aggressive this one is it. there are some players better than what we have grab them if you can dont overpay if possible. we need to hit on 12 and 20 and probably 112
