Expectation is now on the defense to drastically improve

Go sign asante Samuel AND Gilmore Weds morning. Get them in here

They want to play for a contender.

There is no way you’re getting guys waiting for a Super Bowl favorite to call them.

IF we could have got Minken then I would have been hopeful for a low 20's ranked D
Now maybe #27

Ah, you think it’s the pass rush as to why guys are running wide open?

Have fun with your football learning curve.

If you would just simply watch the game & not look at box scores you could be better informed & wouldn’t have to use cliches to make it seem you know what you’re talking about.
The more time Qb's have to throw, the more WR's get wide open.

The more you play 12 yards off the ball, the more WR's get open.

The more you play injured players, the more WR's get open.

When you have poor LB's who can nor drop back into space the more you are going to have WR's open.

When you can't stop the run, the more your DB's bit on play action and WR's will be open.

When you have practice players starting at CB the more you will have WR's open.

Hopefully that helps you a bit.

Most of their issues are in the secondary & we didn’t address that at all.
Always enjoy your posts, Catch! Confession: I had one leg and 2/3 of my torso fully submerged into tank mode before today. And I'm sure far from convinced by today's trades.

But for conversation sake...WHAT IF

  • What if recently returned CB Carson can deliver C+ performance...and what if CB Revel can emerge from cacoon and play at B-level?
  • What if Overshown and Wilson can provide greater suppression of the intermediate passing threats? (Highly likely)
  • What if there is growing synergy and stability on the line with Q and the continued development of Ezeiruaku?
  • What if opposing QBs suddenly need to hold the ball another half-second, letting the pass rush become far more impactful? (reality is this defense is near the top in pressures, but low in sacks. A half second could change a lot)

The Jets give up 30 PPG and only 8 less rushing yards per game than the Cowboys.

Williams will change nothing.

The trades aren't only about this season. Moving forward, these will be good pieces to build around, especially Williams.

I wouldn't expect you to grasp the concept. That would be asking too much from you.

Despite bringing in Wilson and Williams, I don't have high hopes for this defense this season. They need secondary help. The good news is Revel is on deck, Overshown is close, and EZ has taken his game up a level. The bad news is the safeties are terrible and the corners outside of Bland should be depth pieces, not starters. If they bring in over-the-top help we could be in business. Let's see how the next hour plays out.

Next season...fix the secondary, beef up LB, and this defense could be really good.
Everyone wants to believe the injured guys come back and they’re 100%. They may be 100% physically but they aren’t 100% in football shape and for Revel he’s a rookie.

You’re not getting all pros off IR. Hope is they show promise and 2026 sets up to be great.

Need an outside CB to pair with Revel and put Bland inside

Needs to go from bad to decent.

Clowney, Williams, Ezeiruaku, and.....getting Overshown back soon. And if Jerry trades for Fitzpatrick - that looks like the profile of a Top 10 D rather than a Bottom 2 D.

Offense will bounce back. Cardinals was one game. Defense is on the heat seat rather than the offense from this point on. Thoughts?
Why don't we settle for marginal improvements each week? I would be happy if by the end of the season if they climb back to a top 20. Good drafts, better off-season strategy, and shoot for top 15 next year.

But let's be real, they still need a lot of help and have some aging guys on the line now.

I'm not expecting a couple pieces to improve us much. I'm thinking we have as much issues with game mangement and scheme as with player personnel.

I suppose even just a litle bit has to help.

What if Q can penetrate and not allow the QB to step up in the pocket which allows the ends to get home.

I would love to see Dallas go on an 8 game winning streak , and end up 11-5 -1.
