Terrible, 19 dead (Won't be surprised if there is more) and 50 injured, some severely.

I won't get political. But my first thought is, in a few months something similar happen and we'll have the same reaction and discussions yet again. It mentally and emotionally drains, I'll be honest.

Terror attack or otherwise. People need to continue to live their lives without fear. Fear is what drives these maniacs. Can never allow terrorists to win. Live without fear.

Not so much that, but safety in public events.

There is no way to protect everyone all the time.
This is a real difficult topic because the current approach, pretty much across the globe, towards preventing terrorism is 10% proactive and 90% reactive. These percentages need to be flipped, however, it would certainly be at the expense of people's liberties and freedom. There are thousands of known people on terror watch lists in every country but officials hands are tied. I'm not saying everyone start rounding them up, it's difficult, but laws of freedom are being used against the innocent and it's pretty much reacting to when a sleeper wakes up and acts - which obviously is too late. :(

Round them up. Kill them. Normal laws do not apply. Don't play with rattle snakes but don't live in fear of them either.

Duh. I just said safety in public events. More security, more cameras, more metal detectors, whatever it takes.
Well, England has more cameras, more security than anyone. It doesn't work against public attacks by people willing to die. These maniacs do not care about getting caught or dying. That is their goal. What good would a camara do to prevent this type of event...these types can walk into any local...a crowded market...etc. The only solution is to avoid the mistakes of Europe. Better to let this subject go...its too political for this site.

I didn't read up on this story or know what security was there at the time of this. Well I guess maybe they need more face recognition technology or something to that event. Full body scans by cameras, etc.

anyone that thinks technology is the answer is living in a dream world. Many of these attacks have been carried out by those not suspected one way or another so there is no point to what you want. Body scans can not detect implanted bombs if done correctly. A prosthesis for example could be made up of an explosive that can get by the scans and dogs. A few extra wires in your ipod or whatever can then be connected to the explosive. That is just one way to make all your preparations useless.

There is never an answer for evil. Never did I say it would solve everything.

I am not an expert on scanning technology. No one knows what's the future of technology, or it can or can't do.

While not a complete answer. Technology has thwarted many attempts/attacks.
Technology IS a big part of the answer.
