His price keeps going up and up...think he could be our nose tackle of the future.

Lots of "Extend Player X" threads today.

If I'm not wrong the Eagles ran for 183 yards with a backup RB in there last night.

Need to be careful not to fall into the trap of over-valuing players based on a small sample size -- the Cowboys have gotten themselves in quite a bit of trouble with that model.

Yeah, he isn't the answer. That Ratliff contract was terrible.

Two words: Marcus Spears

Brent is a bright spot on the DL.

Seriously? After Bryce Brown almost goes for 200?

Please go.

We got Ratliff for pennies on the dollar. He wouldve gotten double as a FA.

Im always down for pre-emptive extensions when they make sense. Sean Lee would be my target. This is the 4th year in a row(sr yr at psu) he has had it ended by injuries, however when he is on the field he is a top 3 ILB. He would take a paycut for security I am sure.

Josh Brent has been a pleasant surprise filling in for Ratliff. I'd like to see both players on the field at the same time. Extend him to a moderate-sized contract and draft more interior D-line

Yeah, because Josh Brent was the sole reason Brown ran for almost 200 yards.

Had nothing to do with both ILB being down.

Dallas should hsve let another team overspend on Ratt. They sure didn't get any value by extending him.

You obviously know football. My bad.

Didn't you hear? JBell said Brent was the reason Brown ran for almost 200 yards, so it must be true!

We didnt overspend. We resigned him in 07 I believe. 08-11 he played above that contract for us.

No one guy is the sole reason for the 200 yards. Brent made a few plays that stood out, but nothing that screamed "let's re-sign this guy ASAP".

spears is worthless yet he keeps starting:bang2: same with doug free and ogletree. Don't get me started on the inside linebacker and safety play. They are part of the reason why we gave up so much in the run game.

Josh price-brent was doing his thing today. He was getting held alot. Matter of fact alot of our players were getting held blatantly but the ref didn't throw the flag because they seem to only watch our team like hawks.

How could you miss the double hold when josh was running after foles and the center had brent hands tied behind his back like he was about to get arrested. How does the ref miss that hold is beyond me.

Well I think the OP is trying to say that you can get Josh Brent locked up for pretty cheap right now. I wouldn't disagree with this at all.

this extended rat at that time was dumb. You doubt pay a player who is declining on his past greatness like he is still in his prime. This is why jerry and co needs to hire a real gm. It was dumb. Just like alot of other contracts jerry hand our to one year wonders (miles and doug free).

We shouldn't think about extending Brent til we see what happens come draft time.

This is the first time in several years that there could be 4 NTs that have first round grades in the draft. We have to take a look at them, and we don't need Brent getting in the way of that cause while he is adequate, he isn't a game changer.

Yup, hand him a new contract. If it's a reasonable one. And I don't see why it shouldn't be that.

Definitely.

Sign Brent to a Lissemore type deal and lock him up.

It's not like he was running 21 and 22s...almost all of his yards were off tackle.

That was probably Brent's best game.

Then he can perform like the average player that Lissemore is right now, and we are stuck with him long term.

I wanna see what happens around draft time at the position that could be deep in the first round this year, before I lock into anything with Brent.
