Wow. Looks like our "favorite" Commanders message board is moving up in the world. All the mods there got sideline and press box passes for all the games. They're also getting Dan Snyder, Joe Gibbs and players in live chats. Maybe you folks at the Zone should give Jerry Jones a call. ;)

Commanders.com Adds Forum, Chat Features For Increased Fan Interaction

The Washington Commanders today announced a strategic alliance with Extremeskins.com, the Internet's most popular and populated team-specific Commanders fan site, resulting in the fans' closest possible connection with the team.

The addition of message boards and fan chats with team players, coaches and officials adds another powerful element to Commanders.com's ever-expanding slate of video team reports, audio and video press conference coverage, news articles and team features.

As a result of the partnership, the Extremeskins.com owners and their corps of moderators will become the exclusive Commanders.com message board and chat site under the banner Extremeskins at Commanders.com. Interactive chats are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 6, with Owner Daniel M. Snyder, followed by a chat with Head Coach Joe Gibbs on Thursday, Sept. 8.

Players will be added to the mix the next week, beginning with quarterback Patrick Ramsey on Monday, Sept. 12. The message board is scheduled to launch soon.

"As we began our re-design of Commanders.com early this year, we wanted to incorporate the message boards and chats so popular with fans," said Larry Michael, Commanders senior vice president. "As we examined existing sites, we quickly discovered Extremeskins. With its 35,000 members and the years of experience accumulated by the operators, we quickly wondered whether we could incorporate it, rather than build our own."

Founded in 2000 by Tony DiMarco and currently owned by DiMarco, Eric Leichter and Mark Steven, Extremeskins.com's popularity with fans is in large part due to the dedication of its moderators, as well as the distinct personality they bring to the site.

The alliance with Commanders.com allows the owners, all of whom have other full-time jobs, to concentrate on the dream they had when founding the site: Provide the best fan experience possible, with the most up-to-date information possible about the Washington Commanders.

Extremeskins at Commanders.com will live within the team site, and the team will assume all technical responsibilities, with the moderators continuing their existing roles. Representatives of Extremeskins at Commanders.com will join the team at all games, providing an exclusive fan view from the pressbox and sidelines. Extremeskins will also have the ability to attend all practices and team activities.

"We have no interest in changing or reining in the moderators," Michael said. "They are what made the site so popular. They are what attracted us to the site in the first place."

The team expects to begin integrating the Extremeskins.com content and membership within the next week, with Extremeskins at Commanders.com to begin seamless operation from its new address shortly thereafter. Fans may register to participate in team message boards and chats as soon as the integration is complete. Existing Extremeskins.com members will be automatically registered at the Extremeskins at Commanders.com address.

I wonder if Bill Parcells has ever done an online chat interview before like Joe Gibbs is going to with Extremeskins? That would have to be an interesting read considering how he treats the reporters.

Q: Bill, Bill, Bill.... tell all these sumsbetches that the 3-4 will rock their world!!

BP: Oh brother. Next!

Actually, the idea of an "officially sanctioned" Cowboyszone has real merit! I think you mods should propose this to Jerry.

Do a little homework. Find out who had the idea for the 'Skins. What was involved, etc.

Then Go for it!!! :bounce:

Q: Bill, what do you think of this new "on-line" chat thing.

B: OK, this aint football, OK? Lookit, you guys are just another thing I gotta deal with and there's only so many hours in the day OK? Lookit, I didn't like the idea of letting my Coordinators talk to the press freely so how my gonna like this?

Q: Coach Parcells, where you going?

:lmao:

Before Skins fans get too excited, imagine what happens to "free speech" on an official team site. Want to rip Danny Boy for his horrible ownership? Look what happens to the secretary who brings him cold coffee. In the near future, that site probable becomes "Burgundy and Gold Colored Glasses" headquarters. Dissenting opinions need not apply. Think the mods will want to be tolerant of people criticism? They've got their sideline passes to protect...

I wonder if ownership by the team would "tighten the reigns" in terms of posting of "exclusive" articles from subscriber sites, etc. Also, using photos for sigs without the permission of the source, etc. I think I like it as an independent entity. Also, knowing Danny you can bet extremeskins will soon be a pay site...

Well.... I sort of think it already has that tag even without any official Commanders affiliation. ;) I think just about every Cowboys fan who has tried to post stuff over there that questioned Skins homerism has been banned. And I'm not sure I've ever seen the Cowboys Zone equivalent of an Art. That guy is ready to kill people for Dan Snyder.

Although, come to think of it, I'm not sure how Dan Snyder will view their "bag over the head" avatars they sometimes use when the team is at all-time lows. :)

I can just see Snyder planning this...

"Vinny, I think it's time we got us a team website. Now go surf around and find me the most homerific Skins site out there."

That shouldn't be a problem.

They've already got a moderator who tells fans their "job" is to support the FO, and not criticize it.

BTW, the Jetsinsider owner and staff has had press passes for several years now..hasn't affected the forum itself at all. The same number of both sound and outlandish opinions. No attempt at censorship. So press passes don't necessarily lead to thought control..then again, Woody Johnson never pulled the NY Times passes like Daniel Snyder did the Washington Posts'.

LTN, I think you give the Washington Commanders, it's organization and fans of that message board too much credit. Even their coach and owner are paranoid that the media is out to get them and that the referees conspire to make them lose.

Let me ask you this, do you think the JetsInsider board was anything like the gestapo run Extremeskins? That would explain any causal effect or lack thereof becoming an "official" site would construe.

If it were to become a pay site, it would lose 95% of its participents. I'm a member there, have been for a few years reading up on the enemy...But I would never pay for it.

Art and the rest of the Mods would have to change their banning methods, not because the "felt" someone should be banned...They would have to follow exact guidelines if it was a pay site.

It will be interesting to follow this and see how it shakes out.

So did he threaten physical violence?

I hear he is pretty good at that.
