Ok so, this is taking into consideration who we have already signed and re-signed.

Re-Sign
Greg Hardy-Not the popular choice, but premier pass rushers are hard to come by, and we have already dealt with all of the media backlash he came with. It would be a shame if we got the black eye and some other team reaps the rewards.

FA

Here is where we have to get creative and stay open minded

Eric Weddle-I know the board is divided on this one, but at the end of the day he still has fuel in the tank, and if we can get him in here on a 3 year deal, he may just be what our secondary needs to get us over the proverbial hump, also his knowledge will help Byron Jones mature quicker and become the safety I think he can be.

Brandon Boykin-This kid I have always liked, it gives us versatility, and gives us a slot corner that will be an immediate upgrade. Also allows Scandrick to move outside with Carr and Mo. Not a bad rotation.

Nick Fairley-Plagued by injuries, but at the end of the day, this is a personal pickup for me as I have always loved this guy as a player. Hes big and hes mean. He would be great in our rotation, and I believe it would keep him healthy. 1 year prove it deal.

This is an inexpensive way to fill a lot of holes before the draft.

Now draft day. I think we move down in a trade with San Fran giving us their 2nd rounder. So I will be starting from our pick. This is one of 2 options im going to provide. Same trade in place though.

7-Elliott-This kid can play, and he is a beast. He automatically brings us back to our established identity from 2014. Him and DMC can share the load, but at the end of the day, I think EE is ROY behind our line.

34-Jaylon Smith-I really do think he is going to fall due to his injury, and if we are smart we pick him up here. Kid is going to be great, just going to take time. Imagine if the Rams didn't take a risk on Gurley, that's all ill say about that.

37-Robert Nkemdiche-We all know this is coming, if hes there at this point, we take him. Talented kid with some issues. At the end of the day, our defense would be much better with him and smith and this would be a steal if he fell this far, which I think he will. Based on how he interviewed and his off field concerns.

67-Braxton Miller-The speed threat our team desperately needs. Will open up things for Dez which is good news. He needs work on his route running of course, but his athleticism is unparalleled. Id be happy with this pick here.

101-Christian Hackenberg-I know this isn't a popular choice here. But personally I think he just had really bad luck being stuck behind that line at Penn. I think a few years of learning could really help this kid.

Option 2

Again here at 7 we take Elliott for the above reasons.

Now at this point I believe we can trade back into the 2nd round using san frans pick and one of our 4th or 5th. So I think we will trade back in and take Lynch.

2nd round with our pick at 34-I think we will take Smith if he falls. And then the rest of the draft I believe will fall the same way minus round 4

Pick 101-Jayron Kearse-Good athlete and can backup Weddle if he gets hurt. This will hopefully also push JJ Wilcox to the bench on some XFL team.

So here it is:
Option 1-
Elliott
Smith
Nkemdiche
Miller
Hackenberg

Option 2-
Elliott
Lynch
Nkemdiche
Miller
Kearse

That's 2 options for you guys to go over. Let me know what you think.

Elliot is being talked up a lot lately. And as we get closer to the draft picking Elliot is a no brainer.

Hardy may have been a premier pass rusher at some point, but he was not last year and it seems not many in the NFL think he is a premier pass rusher anymore. Teams would be killing to get him if he was a premier pass rusher. Heck Jerry would have re-signed him if he was a premier pass rusher. But being an average pass rusher and a head ache to boot, will not get him a second contract from Jerry. Sacks from Hardy would have soothed the head aches he caused Jerry.

Starting to believe the Cowboys will be on the clock at 4 praying for a trade down. Obviously one of the QBs have to be available for this to be possible. If they don't plan on taking a QB, I don't see anyone far and away better than the rest of the pack of about 15 prospects. Elliot is excellent but I doubt they would like to pull that trigger at 4.

I believe he still can be. He was killing it his first 2 games. Then the media circus started, the team was performing horribly. A lot of factors came into play. Let's not forget. He was off of football a year.

If anything how they been conducting RB business lately leads me to believe that they don't value them as much as people think.

Agreed.

Here are the factors that lead me to believe they are not looking to draft a RB early... Other than the "talk" we've heard out of Jerry...
-They have a 1,000 yard rusher on the roster- A "cheap" 1,000 rusher
-The #4 pick is going to cost about the same about as Lamar Miller did the Texans... $24 over 4 years
-If the Cowboys wanted to spend that kind of coin they would have signed Miller
-Adding a guy that's making $6 mil a season + McFadden and suddenly you've got $8 mil invested in the position (without counting the cost of a 3rd stringer)
-If you say, "Well they'll cut McFadden" then you're looking at a having a guy become a 300 carry a season player... And we know how long those guys last
-If you keep McFadden and draft a RB at #4 then you're probably giving the high draft pick only a couple hundred carries... So you're going to give $6 mil a season to a guy that's only getting a couple hundred carries... you see that's the quandary with drafting a back at #4... You can't get maximum value if you split carries with another back and if you don't split carries then you run the risk of ruining the guy.
-Backs have a notoriously short shelf life in the NFL...why not target another position where the playing career is potentially much longer?
-In addition there are still "cheap" backs out there like Alfred Morris and Ron Hillman who could probably be brought in for a couple mill in order to split the workload with McFadden

So what if they get him at 7?
