I mean doesn't making it to the probowl mean that you're the best at the position? (or lets face it the most popular) Gonzo is the best receiving tightend in the NFL but you can't just be one sided when it comes to being the best. Everyone knows that Gonzo is'nt much in the blocking game and Jwitt may not always get 9td's a year but he's a great rout runner/pass blocking tightend in the NFL today so I think it was totally observing for Witten to get in over Tony

Gonzalez said that Witten is better than him in an interview. Thus it's true.

Falcons fans are just upset their team super-tanked and is missing the playoffs.

Boo Flippin Hoo. Witten is the standard in the NFC. He plays hard, catches a lot of footballs and is expected to block Defensive Ends and Linebackers. If Gonzo wanted to be in the Probowl, he could have stayed in the AFC where finesse Tight Ends are all the rage.

I agree fully I mean this is what a "real" tightend should be doing. all the td catches are great and they help when games but if you get smacked by DE every other play

THis is what I don't get. What did Gonzo do that made him a difference maker with Atlanta. They went from an 11 win team to out of the playoffs this year and they were up and down before Ryan and Turner got hurt. Gonzo had more TD's than Witten but Witten beats him in all the other categories plus Witten is a more complete tightend than Gonzo will ever be.

Pretty much this is Gonzo's punishment for leaving the AFC. You can bet if he were still in the AFC, players and coaches would have voted him in.

I saw Witten blocking Orakpo last game one-on-one. I doubt the Falcons would trust Gonzalez to do that. Not saying Gonzalez isn't good, because he is. I just think Witten's better.

Both players have good history and talent. Witten has been the more complete TE this year. Celek from the Eagles has had a better year than Gonzales. The Falcon's fans aren't going to get a lot of legit support on this one.

He wouldn't have made it in the AFC either. Not with the years Clark and Gates had

lol @ falcon's fans. Witten has the better numbers, is the better blocker and on a playoff team. The only thing Gonzo has over Witten this year are TD's. If TD's alone made the player a pro bowler, Roy Williams would be one. :laugh2:

Witten is the overall better player at this point in their respective careers, but having watched the vast majority of TG's games I am going to say he is a great blocker. Why do you think he is a poor blocker?

There's no question that Gonzales has been a terrific player. He does block, but he's been more of a receiving threat. He lost his opportunity to block for a good back when Turner was injured. I would never categorize Gonzales as a poor blocker. This was not his year.

This is the same pathetically stupid fan base that believed (and many still do) that Mike Vick was a hero and a great QB.

Nothing more needs to be said.

So some fans are upset when a player DOESN'T get in on reputation alone?

Well in all fairness he really isnt giving the chance to block on passing downs just because how Malarky runs his offense but the times that atl were facing heavy pass rush team such as Dal,Philly, Saints and TB Gonzo had to saty back allot and he didnt hold up so well. I know in the AFC the pass catching TE are the rave but in the NFC you are expected to block more and this season with me living in atl i got a chance to watch every atl game and he didn't seem to care much for the blocking part of being a TE
