Lawson, Ross, Takk, Sidney Jones, Ryan Ramczyk mentioned in the article with clips
Carl Lawson and the Cowboys fit like a glove. The Cowboys have a huge hole at pass-rusher, and Lawson is a top-three pure pass-rusher in this class. The only reason he would be available when the Cowboys are on the clock is because of injury concerns as Lawson missed big chunks of his college career because of hip and knee issues.
Lawson has an electric first step that disrupts the relationship between an offensive tackle and quarterback. He also brings violent and active hands that he uses to create a soft edge and stay clean on his path to the QB.
On top of the elite footwork he uses to set up his rush, Lawson has just enough pliability and closing speed to be a threat to speed rush, bend the edge and flatten to the quarterback.
As a run defender, Lawson isn’t as effective, but he does display the ability to play with good hand and body placement while setting the edge.
It all comes down to health for Lawson, and if the Cowboys can come to grips with his injury history, the Auburn product should be the easy pick if available at No. 28.
