Well, I have said it before and will say it again, Rooney pulls the strings and as long as ticket sales continue and the Steelers organization continues to bring in revenue, Rooney isn't going to change a thing. I would be shocked if Rooney got rid of Tomlin.
James is correct, Tomlin is in charge of the coaches. Tomlin won a Super Bowl on the back of Cowher's disciplined team. Tomlin inherited that Super Bowl team. Tomlin eliminated/got rid of the coaches that got him the Super Bowl team, Dick LeBeau, Todd Haley.....Does Tomlin micromanage his other coaches? Is Tomlin a control freak? I don't know, but it seems that Rooney is content with mediocrity and settling for a "winning" season for 10 years.
