Well, this was a fun exercise on an otherwise lazy Saturday afternoon. Got away with just restructuring Romo only. Picked up some DL help in FA and the draft. Rolando McClain was not re-signed, but Dawson drafted in the 1st to play WILL (with Lee at MIKE and Durant at SAM).

Is this supposed to be the off-season or the in-season roster.

I think I counted 50 players which would indicate off-season (only 51 count against the cap in the off-season) but if that's the case then you wouldn't be cutting players like Chris Whaley because they need 90 for training camp.

If it is in-season and those cuts would happen to get down to 53, then the practice squad should count against the cap.

It wouldn't let me include Davon Coleman, Ryan Williams, and Cam Lawrence whom we already signed. Their cap hit would not be that high so will still be under the cap. Those players plus the 5 draft picks (only did 5 so it would equal up to 53) constitute a 53 man roster. I know you can have more in the offseason, but I wanted to just do the 53. Not a perfect simulator, just a fun exercise to see who you can fit under the cap this year that you'd want to make it on to your final roster.

If you wanted to include practice squad guys, I'm sure you could and you would still be under the cap (what's the cap hit on average for a full PS?)

The PS is only 1.1M for the minimum, but sometimes they pay them more than minimum.

Between the PS, IR, PUP and bonuses paid to players that didn't make the team is adds up to a few million.

Your simulation was fine, I'm just pointing out that the simulators are not very realistic. The Cowboys could go all in and sign free agents to huge contracts and fit it under the 2015 cap; however, the 2015 cap is not the limiting factor. The thing that keeps them from going all in is the future year's caps which the simulator does not calculate.
