Who knew? They just released the last issue of Star Mag fka Dallas Cowboys Weekly. There was no announcement or maybe I just missed it. I admit that I no longer read it cover to cover. So much changed from the time you could hold it in your hand. Back in the day getting the Weekly in the mail was a highlight of my week. Of course I was a lot younger then and easier to impress, but the electronic version never lived up to the paper. That being said, I hate to see it go. It was a unique and well written newspaper/magazine that once boasted the highest sales of any team publication. Oh well. All good things must come to an end.

Before the days of the internet, The Dallas Cowboys Weekly was where I got 99% of my Cowboys fix. I started subscribing to it in 1982 when I was still in HS. It was a great magazine, then the internet happened. Great memories of that magazine!!

Me, too. First of the week was my favorite because it would come in the mail. Read it cover to cover sometimes more than once. We didn't get all the games living outside of Texas those days.

I still have a few issues for nostalgia.

It was a rag. A homer-driven publication with editorial content seemingly controlled by the Cowboys FO.
Yet, when I was doing time in Calif., it was the only thing available for substantial Cowboys news.

I feel your pain, bloke. It was that or nothing outside of Texas. I even had some of my finely-crafted letters to the editor printed.
And never was I banned!:muttley:

Man that brings back the memories.............I too used to get the Dallas Cowboys Weekly as it was known back then. I would read that puppy from cover to cover several times over. The two inside pages always had a big picture of one of the cheerleaders, very nice!

Back in the 90s before Al Gore invented the Internet (LOL), the DCW was the only way to get any Cowboy's news. I still have a stack of them in my attic, I couldn't bring myself to throw them out. Those were good times, but just like the Romo era, all things eventually come to an end.:(

My attic has every issue from about August 1991 to sometime in 1999.

A sad day but times change.

It was clearly Cowboys driven, but it had some very good sports writers and the human interest stories were nice. I remember At Home With the Cowboys or whatever it was called. I loved that. Ask Tex Schramm was nice early on too. He answered some of my questions. It was nice seeing my name in print.:D

Yes, loved Dallas cowboys Weekly. Especially when i was younger. When it first started, well was out a few years. I think it was 1977, my brother got me a 2 year subscription to it. Of course it ran out, I never renewed it. Well, I finally signed back up for it in 1989 when living in Florida. Had it for 10 years, and still have every copy in a rubber maid storage box. From the issue when Jerry bought the team, then for that 10 years.
I let it lapse a few years after I moved to DFW area.
I had 1 free year subscription of the digital copy, from being a season ticket holder. But did not renew it. You are right, it never was the same, as up to the date info and basically the same info was obtainable elsewhere.

I got an email that this was to be the last issue. But I never received any emails saying it was going to be discontinued.

As I mentioned in another post. I have many boxed away. As well, I have a few newspapers the day after they won SB 27. I was living in Florida at the time, but my father in law saved me a few copies.

I have the three SB issues from the 90s.

Precious items considering the intervening 21 years and the thought we might not see another for a while yet!
