This could turn out to be a good pick up because if Witten goes down this will be our ONLY TE that can catch the ball.

Don't forget the Parcells/Weis connection for the inside slant.

We'll see what he can do on special teams and H-back as well.

Bingo. We may not all agree, but apparently Parcells and Co. believe that this team is complete enough that they can draft BPA regardless of position.

Though drafting some OL and FS help later on would be nice.

Sorry, but an injury to Witten won't stymie this offense. Plus, I didn't realize we took 2nd round draft picks "just in case" a starter got hurt.

I thought 2nd rounders were supposed to compete for starting jobs.

Why are we drafting backups again???

Why is everybody so gaga on Winston? That guy sucks and has had a major knee injury in the past....Any wonder why he's dropping like a sack of dead mice?

Adn this is why I HATE picking BPA. This pick does nothing for the Cowboys.

Been hearing about mabe Ko simpson was not drafted because IQ issues, but after fasano's pick i'm wondering about parcells wonderlick score? A 2nd round draft choice for a Te to backup a pro bowl 23 yr old starter! Dumb.
BPA, what if the best player available on the 3rd round is a TE.
? dumb excuse

I think that this pick means the Cowboys are fully going with the two TE offense set a lot more. If the new guy, who has excellent hands, can bring it down the field, who are you going to double cover?

Witten could be either a UFA or RFA after this season depending on what the CBA says. Maybe that was in mind when we got Fasano.

Goose in his top 100....

54. Anthony Fasano TE Notre Dame
There could be as many as four tight ends selected in the second round: Marcedes Lewis, Leonard Pope, Anthony Fasano and Joe Klopfenstein. Lewis won the Mackey Award last season as the best tight end in the college game. Klopfenstein is big (6-5, 255) and Pope bigger (6-7, 258). But maybe the most intriguing prospect is Fasano, who left his senior season on the table at Notre Dame to turn pro. He reminds NFL talent evaluators of another Notre Dame tight end – Mark Bavaro. "I pride myself on being an all-around tight end, a tight end who doesn't come off the field in any situation," Fasano said
