Question is: What professional sporting event is your favorite to watch live and in person?

The only reason I even bring this up is because my favorite sport by far is Football. Watching it on television, playing it, talking about it, it's all Football. However, I feel for some reason that being at an actual Hockey game is much more enjoyable than it is watching it on t.v. Does it beat the feeling of being at an NFL game? I'm not sure, but it's definatly a whole different game in person.

I think most sporting events are better when you are there than they are on TV.

In most sports (particularly Motorsport and Golf) you don't get as good a view as you do on TV, but the atmosphere of being there (even the smell) more than makes up for it.

FWIW, Football/Soccer games are the best live sports events I've been to, purely for the atmosphere of the event.

That said, lying in the Sun (it is sunny in England sometimes), drinking beer & watching the cricket is a nice way to spend a day :D

Baseball is the only game I would rather see live than on television. It's murderously boring to try to catch the game on tv, but live the atmosphere more than makes up for the slow parts of the game.

I enjoy watching American football live, but I like it better on television because I can see all the different angles and not have to deal with some idiots.

I agree on baseball i can't watch that sport on TV without falling asleep but when i was younger i used to go to a lot of Rangers games when i spent my summers in Dallas and it was quite enjoyable being at those games

I agree with a few here. Baseball is much better live and in person. But my favorite to go to live is Arena Football. They are up close and personal. At least they were at the stadium I went to in Bakersfield. I had season tickets for the Blitz two years in a row until we moved to Ok. It was a great time

The Dallas Cowboys games I went to live are by far, and away, my absolute favorites ever.

A rodeo is worth going to live at least once in your life. Especially if you take some kids.

baseball

because the contrast from being in a stadium and watching it on the tube is so great, one is extreme excitement and the latter is extreme nothing

when the World Cup comes back to the U.S. and a game is played in the Cowboys' stadium - it'll be that.

Bowling is much more fun in person, than watching it on TV.

I agree with you on basketball. It's the one sport I really enjoy watching live.

Baseball. I can't stand watching it on TV, but I don't mind going to a game at all, where I can sit in good weather with good people and drink alot of beer!

Hockey is sort of the same way. Never follow it or watch it on TV, but if someone invites me to go to one of UW-Madison's games I'll go just for the atmosphere of the largely student crowd.

I've been to a Boston Bruins game and I can say I wouldn't want to go again

the seating is bad, you're almost sitting vertically from the floor, maybe it was just that stadium, but I was afraid of getting a little buzzed and falling straight onto the ice
