Ok it's kind of a weird question, but since we're all fellow Cowboys fans, I'm interested in knowing, what is your favourite band? What music do you 'Cowboys' listen to? Up here in Canada, it's all about Neil Young, The Who, Pink Floyd and The Beatles for me. Got Yo La Tengo playing at the moment. Good stuff.

Select rap I do dig, stuff like Public Enemy and N.W.A. It's getting kind of old these days though. I Forgot to mention Jeff Buckley. What a loss that was!

Dude, you're old school! There aren't too many who could mention those bands! Not a big fan, but impressed nonetheless!

I'm not only old school... but old... ;)

I remember when Alex Liefson was not the guitarist for Rush...

Don't know if you guys get the show down there, but you should definately check out 'Trailer Park Boys'. Alex Lifeson was on the show last season.

I just bought Clapton's collection of Robert Johnson blues songs, titled "Me & Mr. Johnson"... I found it disappointing, largely because Clapton can't sing the blues...

The guitar work was as good as I expected it would be...

Now to the subject of my favorite groups... the key word here being "groups"...

Start with the Eagles, who show us what rock and roll can be when it grows up... when they put out their "Hell Freezes Over" album, their new songs stood up to their classic hits just fine...

Loggins & Messina was a really good rock band, in their concerts their musical jams sometimes turned into mini-symphonies... I mean, 5 to 10 minute jams... I learned to fingerpick at a Loggins & Messina concert at the Capital Center, just outside of DC...

Little Feat, before Lowell George died, was always a favorite of mine... that guy was just a brilliant slide guitarist...

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was always underrated... yeah, I know they're kinda country, but they went through a phase where they called themselves the Dirt Band, and were more rock... in fact, they were the first "rock" band to tour Russia... the Russians wanted them to bring over a girl singer, so they went out and enlisted a pretty fair choice, Stevie Nicks...

Anybody else old enough to remember the Grass Roots?? I always liked them, too...

Why get Clapton doing Robert Johnsons songs?

Just go get the Robert Johnson Box set.

I have it, I like the music because he was so ahead of his time and just flat amazing to hear a guy play like that for that time period.

However just to warn anyone that might want to get it....the sound quality is not good at all.
They did the best they could do to clean it up but we are talking about master recordings that were on old cheap records and filed away for years.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/A...58/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/104-3661731-5292715

Of course it is only 2 CDs but also only $20+ dollars...now, I think I paid around 30+ when it was new a few years ago.

Public Enemy is about the only Rap group that I will still listen to every once in awhile.

I will break out an old CD and pop it in.

Rap has become Crap anymore....at least the little I hear on TV.

Never go wrong with the Beatles, The Stones, Led Zepplin, CCR, and Frank Sinatra. Good music never dies.

By the way since you live up in the great white north....Do you listen to Matthew Goodband or the Tea Party?

Pretty much all my favorites too, but I would add.. Boston, Lynard Skynard, Journey (Steve Perry era), Creed, Alabama, Garth Brooks, Brooks & Dunn, Stevie Ray Vaugn, Bee Gees, The Who, The Doors, Hank Williams... heck, I have too many favorites to list..

But George Strait is my favorite of all.... Love his voice, lyrics, smile, looks, Texan roots and the way he wears his Wranglers.. :D

I am only 25 but I agree with your statement. After Tupac was killed, rap has become crap. Nowadays, all it is random sampling with the same elements involved in every video:

1. Girls shaking their arses.
2. Showing cars and rims nicer than yours.
3. Shot of throwing money at the camera.
4. Designer sports team jersey and/or appropriate 'throwback'.
5. Random dudes in the back in above attire just kind of hanging out.

There's more involved, but it doesn't matter. Rap is another nice way of saying 'Pop' nowadays.

My favorites are Pink Floyd (Roger Waters solo too), Doors, The Cure and Depeche Mode. Weezer is cool too.
