Little known fact:

His Father, Ray Agnew, was one of two players that Jimmy Johnson tried to trade up for in the first round of the 1990 draft before eventually "settling" for Emmitt Smith when the trade fell apart.

Agnew was drafted 10th overall by the Patriots.

my god, thats obscure draft history

I'm a bit of a draftnik. :p

Jimmy had signed Terrence Flagler in plan B free agency that year, so he felt like he had the RB position set. They needed DL help so he was pretty focused on that early on. He tried to move up for James Francis and Cincy wouldn't make the trade and took Francis themselves. Then, he wanted Agnew and that didn't work out either. Dallas had Emmitt as their 4th ranked player overall and as he slid, Johnson noticed and wanted to get the value that he represented. So, he traded up from the 21st pick (Minnesota's original pick) to the 17th pick with Pittsburgh to take the NFL all time leading rusher.

Atlanta at pick #20 wanted Emmitt very badly and it was a poorly kept secret around the league. Jimmy knew that and jumped them by trading with Pitt. Atlanta was miffed and instead took their next highest rated back in Broussard. Needless to say, Atlanta was pissed for a good decade as Emmitt led the league in rushing time and time again and led his team to 3 super bowl victories.

That's why I say if Dallas thinks that Gurley is a special back, they need to do what they think is necessary to go get him and not just say we'll take the next highest rated guy.

our recent history of trade ups hasn't been so hot but if this Gurley is really all that and it looks
dicey about him making it then lets go get him.
my concern is how the defense keeps getting the hind [well you know]

It's official.....
Cowboys signed FB Ray Agnew.

Agnew spent the majority of last season with the Browns, where he graded as one of PFF's worst run blockers. He'll need to beat out Jed Collins for the Cowboys' fullback job.
