I remember that vibe being very similar to this one. A lot of us felt like we reached and weren't too excited about that pick. A few pro bowls and all pro's later some of us are eating crow.

I'm hoping Taco turns out to be the same exact way.

I wasn't really too thrilled with the pick and was hoping we would trade back, but I can't change it now so we'll have to play the watch and see game .

It was a strong first pick. The reimagining of our defense is officially underway!!!

yea, i didn't do any "i hope we take player x!" this year. heck, i didn't do a single mock draft or really pay much attention, just been too busy. so all i can do now is watch reactions from people and go by their past history to know if this pick is any good.

if risen hates it, he's a perennial pro bowler.

I am thrilled about the pick. I am a fan of big DEs. Hate to compare him to Terrell Sighs, but it fits. Let's see how they compare coming out of college:

Suggs: 6'3" 260lbs, 4.84-40
Taco: 6'6" 272lbs, 4.92-40

Taco is bigger than Suggs was and about the same speed. Note: he played with a high ankle sprain all year. Was he 100% at the combine? I doubt it. His 40 probably should have been better than when he tested out.

With his size, he should be good against the run. I don't expect OTs to throw him around like a rag doll (although I expect T Smith to school him in practice early and often  - but that will be good for the rook in the long run).

Especially at 28, I am thrilled with the pick. Him and Irving will be a very nice tandem for years to come.

Tank, you are officially on notice.

Just dumb to say. Not even close. Why are so many people down on this pick. We draft an instant starter who is a three down player and will give us 7-12 sacks in his first year. What else do you want with the 28th pick? And at least he isn't one of those tweeners.

Because it's more fun being a nay-sayer. The grass is always greener.

I'm pretty sure we did our HW on this guy. I'm happy. BPA and fit a need. Can't beat that.

7-12 sacks gets him Rookie of the Year consideration. Bold prediction.

I was super excited about Fred

so far most things i've seen show him to be a B to A- pick for the cowboys. who on the board would you have taken at that slot?
