GAC says Calvin Watkins is reporting that Felix will be out next week. Wade didn't confirm that - says they will just have to see how he responds to treatment.

Posterior CL...

Here's the Watkins report.

Sources: Felix Jones to miss Sunday's game

September 29, 2009, 2:14 PM

By: Calvin Watkins

IRVING -- Dallas Cowboys running back Felix Jones will miss Sunday's game at Denver with a strained left knee, according to two sources.

Jones injured his knee at the end of a 40-yard run in the third quarter of Monday night's victory over Carolina. He had an MRI on Tuesday, which revealed the sprain. Doctors didn't discuss the possibility of surgery.

After this week, Jones will be reevaluated to see if he can play the following week at Kansas City. Cowboys officials believe Jones could be fully recovered after the bye week on Oct. 18.

As of now, Tashard Choice is the Cowboys' only healthy running back. Choice finished with 82 yards on 18 carries in the victory against the Panthers.

Marion Barber is close to returning from a strained left quad injury. Barber missed Monday's game with a injury.

BTW, Wade said Curtis Johnson re-injured his hamstring. :(

Posterior Cruciate Ligament.

Here's what a normal one looks like on a MRI.

It's the black curved band between the Femur and the Tibia

After initial treatment with RICE, further treatment of PCL sprains depends on the grade of the injury:

*

RICE RICE RICE! (Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate)

Grade I and Grade II PCL sprains - Your knee may be splinted in a straight-leg position, and you'll begin an intense rehabilitation program. This rehabilitation gradually strengthens the muscles around the knee (especially the quadriceps), supports the knee joint, and helps to prevent the knee from being injured again.

He'll be back after the BYE

Wade said when he heard PCL, he thought it had to do with computers.

And also called Felix Injury “Day to Day” ... so basically he is done for the year.

Wade said Barber was getting treatment on his quad last night during the game. They didn't want him standing on it for four hours.

So that can end the rumors of Barber being so upset about not being activated last night that he stormed home.

Wade said he was upset, but that's a good thing. Rather have players that want to play through injuries as opposed to vice-versa.

Posterior cruciate ligament. It's sort of the opposite of the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament). They serve complimentary functions of keeping the shin bone in line with socket/thigh bone.

They are less common injuries than ACL tears just due to the physiology of how knees get injured in sports. To think of the classic PCL injury would be to banging your knee on a dashboard in a car accident.

Typically PCL injuries are not bad and do not require surgery. But, of course, if you have a significant tear, then it becomes a problem.

any timeline from previous pcl injuries?

wade says its different on each player, some get well quicker, some longer

wade also said reason about barber the cowboys didnt want him to stand up for 4 hours,

so day to day for felix, wade was kinda vague too on felix, just didnt want to let people know about injury status, mainly let teams know till they have to let teams know

Two things:

1. Felix will receive a good amount of ultrasound therapy for the PCL. PCL injuries are somewhat rare in football, and surgery isn't recommended. The best thing to do is ultrasound therapy and RICE to help reduce inflammation and improve blood supply to the area. It's a shame Felix is so injury prone early in his career. However, the ultrasound will help prevent any scar tissue and swelling in the future.

2. Mike Tirico is an idiot.

even though thats meant as a joke i am officially worried about felix.we need him after the bye,we have to hit the ground running and can easily go 5-1 after the break.

I'm sure our running backs appreciate being referred to as horses

Well, on second thought, *looks down*, I would too

Well a sprained PCL isn't good.

Just like you wouldn't want a sprained ACL.
