Ferguson added to Pro Bowl

How do you guys even keep up with who's a hater and who isn't. Somebody has too much time on their hands. Just look at you, itching to call somebody out

Pro bowl is meaningless. Nobody cares. It's flag football not a bowl game. It's a carnival atmosphere. That's fine if your ok with a venue like that. Cool. But if you recall what it use to be, what it use to mean, then you quickly realize it's a sham. A way to give the NFL more money off the fans for the Brand. See, the PB is now a brand, not a game. It's marketing 101. I won't be watching. Ferguson was good this year but not bowl worthy.
Here's a side rant kinda related to the importance of the Pro Bowl. I'm in a tiny minority of sports fans who feel the NFL should play its all-star game at midseason like the NBA, NHL and MLB. My opinion has been countered by the perceived risk was too great for players to participate in any celebrity game at that point of the season.

Fine. So, players had rarely gone full game mode during Pro Bowl games for decades. Then the players went padless, contactless, and started wearing flags. Yet, the risk (which is unquestionably true) is still too big of a problem for a midseason all-star game.

I guess the next step will be for Pro Bowl players to simply lounge around on camera and play Madden for a couple of days. The league can promote it as the best players (who show up) demonstrating how well their real skills translate on the electronic field. Maybe an NFL all-star game would finally be deemed safe enough to play midseason? I doubt it.

Only in the minds of the propaganda pushing NFL and the announcers etc. Nobody thinks much of it compared to what it use to be. It's no longer representative of the fans or the spirit of competition.
Yeah, and it's stupid. If the NFL WANTED to push international interest, then THAT is the game they should be touring globally. If the NFL were smart, they'd put that back to being after the Super Bowl and tour that globally so other fans around the world can see it. And heck, maybe have them play the best that the other leagues have to offer. Like, one year, play in Japan and have the best of the NFL play the best of the X League. Then another year, play in Germany and have them play the best of the German League and so forth. At least THAT would be more useful.

I like it! Good ideas.

..anyone else get that consolation prize feeling? ...;).

I mean if it's a money grab anyway, why not put national pride on the line? Imagine if the NFL players keep not caring and get beaten by the X-League? Think the Japanese players wouldn't go all out trying to earn a trip to camp? Think the Germans wouldn't? Or the CFL players? I bet they'd give the NFL players everything they have. If the players want to act like they don't care, they might end up playing against their replacements in the future. Plus, it'd be a fascinating way to build interest and be a post season way to build legitimate connections globally that can ACTUALLY make a difference.
