Matt Schaub is looking pretty good about now.

Charlie Chickenface is looking pretty good , compared to our backup QBs.

Get somebody, anybody, that might allow us to stay in contention, if Romo is gone for 2-4 games. Right now, I dont see us winning any of those "what if Romo is out" games.....

If Romo is out more then 4/5 games.... I think we would have a tough time making the playoffs.

So, yeah, bring in Vick, Schaub, Willy, and Falco....Although Falco might be a little rusty....anybody, that can drive the bus straight enough to get a W. Just one or two Ws.... I dont think Weeden or Vaughn can do it.

Yo man we need to find us a Rugby player. That dude was unstoppable everywhere he played.

The guys on the Cowboys radio broadcast were so excited about that Rugby player, I wanted to smack 'em. I think they forgot whose side they were on every time he was returning a punt. Good grief.

QB...need a backup to step up next game for sure. Weeden and Vaughan need to get the ball out of their butts and play. Showers quickly moving up, even if by default. I liked what I seen from him.
RB...still need to see more reps from McFadden and Randle to see who will get more carries for real. I was hoping to see more plays from McFadden. Randle looked decent at times.
WR...we know the top 4, and no one has separated themselves to be the 5th. Whitehead may get it by default because he may also get the returns by default.
TE...Escobar after a few drops, made some nice catches later on.
OL...showing no depth at all, time for Collins to be tried at swing tackle, can't be worse than Weems. Need to see Green if he is ready to come off of PUP. How about Gibson too.

DE...liking Gregory..liking him a lot. Gardner had a sack, but only time I remember hearing his name, against 3rd and 4th teamers. Hard to say until 1st plays. Edwards didn't hear his name any.
DT...same, no starters played, but seen Russell in on a few plays, it seemed, but didn't hear his name much either. Doesn't mean they didn't do their jobs though.
CB...Corey White will be hard to keep off the field. I think we are ok here. Would like to see Mo get some action next week.
S.....Heath has been replaced on my list by McCray, but I did that last week. And I am not real sure about McCray. I think I am moving Tim Scott up on this list over both of them.
LB...Keith Smith who was on and off the ps / roster last year, has shown up, yes against back ups, but he is doing what he is supposed to do. Will make it until McClain returns, and still may stay then.

K...Bailey, yes he missed a FG...so what...
P...Jones will be solid but not spectacular, and he holds for Bailey.
LS...LP will be here.
PR / KR...Still not sure about Whitehead, was ready to look at someone else, but who. He did have that 20 yarder at the end. I think it will be a year long thing to deal with, if no one steps up.

All you want out of your backup QB is if the starter goes down for a game or 2 that the backup is capable of beating most teams. Most teams meaning teams without an elite QB or defense. Weeden has shown that he can do neither.

I hate to say it, but we need to look at Michael Vick.........................................................................................................................................

So the team can keep another playbook only he can perform?????

I think Vaughan played himself off the roster last night. He was dreadful. Showers is way too raw, and is a PS guy.

Weeden just doesn't process information or see the field quickly. Clearly, he isn't the answer as a backup. But, most teams would be in a serious world of hurt if their starting QB went down. The Packers would be in trouble if Scott Tolzien was pressed into extended work. You saw what happened to the Cardinals last year when Carson Palmer went down. Without Russell Wilson, the Seahawks would be much less effective. The Brady/Garoppolo dynamic may play itself out in a few weeks.

The backup QB situation around the league is pretty poor in general.

I was impressed with Keith Smith a lot. He looked real good.

Gregory is going to be a stud. Coleman looked good as well.

I also though Randle and Gus looked good as well. You have to like Gus' toughness.

Cory White might be our best corner.

Outside of those guys we stink.

Yes, Keith Smith looked better than Brinkley.

  • Tim Scott blasted a guy on a KR. Maybe the only solid ST play all night.
  • Speaking of which...this is becoming a theme. Our coverage units suck right now.
  • Lucky is a beast with lots of quick moves and speed, in space and top end. If he gets a block or two, he is a threat to score on any kick. If he proves ball control he is our guy.
  • Backup O Line play was not great, but San Fran was running game 1 twists and games against them with their starters. But no excuse. Really bad Tackle play.
  • On Defense I think the 1st team and 2nd team Dline is solidly outplaying the Lbers. Wilson, Gachkar, Smith, Brinkley are a long ways from Lee, RoMac, and Hitch. Wilson is a rook and he flashes and sometimes get caught out of position. Smith had a few nice plays and he may be better than Wilson and Gachkar at this moment.
  • Gardner had a nice game. he had a sack and a TFL that I recall.

Our special teams really needs to step it up. I know this is preseason, but there is no reason for it to look like THAT. This is the second game in the row where nearly everytime, the opposing team is starting at LEAST at their 40.

The offense was very sluggish looking. The defense was really the only thing that impressed me. They had bad field position all game and held the 49ers to kicking field goals all day. Our pass rush is much better, but I am a bit concerned about the run..

Well I didn't get to see the game last night but I'm not too worried about the backup QB position because if Romo goes down for any length of time that's all she wrote. Same for just about every other team in the league as well.

The run game takes a big turn when you don't have your starting LBs in. I'm not too concerned.
