Few Thoughts/Opinions

I wouldnt waive him, but he isnt someone Im putting on the field this year. He needs alot of work reading blocks. He was completely lost against Baltimore
Just afraid he will be gone like Ridgeway whom we also tried to put through waivers.

I realized that,
but the 3rd game is a typical throw away and he's going to see the least amount of good defenders and probably the least amount of quality players around him..

that's why I wanted him to have this be fair and even he should have started this last game for a full half if not 2 1/2 quarters in the Milton wrap it up.... I would have seen more of an assessment ,you know a fair assessment..

I'm wondering if Blue is going to end up playing because I really want to see him, but I also don't want to relapse and maybe if they hide him anyway, he comes out in game one against the Eagles and just blows up on the scene...lol One can only dream.... ;)
I agree, but this is where they are now. Think Milton's poor play was caught them off guard.

I think we may see a few veteran QBs get cut this year that we could bring in as a #2, but the reality is if Dak is out for several games this year it really won't matter.

If he is Im not losing too much sleep over it. Id hold him because I can definitely see some upside. But he just might not be an NFL player too

Well I for one was not the dude drinking the Kool Aid in training camp I kept saying the dude looks like that's all he's got is a deep ball most of his balls were going hi which is usually form you know not setting your feet and following through overthrowing the ball like they say in baseball if you throw the ball too hard it'll sail sometimes... And I saw some great throws the deep ball sometimes you have really nice dart that he would throw that's the problem that's all he has is one rhythm 1 velocity he doesn't know how to put much air under the ball he doesn't know when to take some off and have some touch and it's making him throw the ball so hard some guys are can't even catch it...

They're talking about some of those dump downs in short flat routes like for the full back or even a running back you throw the ball like a 100 miles an hour it's gonna be hard to catch these guys are trying to catch and run and you're throwing missiles at them.

Saw it all training camp people were drinking a Kool Aid about how strong his arm was and his mobility and how they were going to have more motion in the offense and I'm looking at it going I don't know what you're seeing but I'm still seeing a guy throwing high throwing low and throwing too hard.. That was with no real pass rush or the threat to be sacked that changes when you're playing a little bit higher speed game where the defense wants to come hit you..

So yeah, I saw this how it took them off guard I don't know but I was seeing something else than some people in here were even seeing and apparently the coaches were being blinded they were drinking the damn Kool Aid..

I agree with the OP. Schotty needs to start Grier in these last few preseason games to get a true assessment of WRs fighting for spots 5 and 6 (I think they will carry 6 WRs on the 53).

Milton is gonna cost a few fringe WRs a good chance at making the team. He should just be on the PS all year.

Grier for QB2, until Dallas can find somewhere better. Then hope the revamped OL can keep Dak healthy and upright.

He has some development needed with the mental processing and accruracy. Doesn't need the fastball on every throw. This takes some time, they need a more ready backup QB if that is Greer or someone else

-Agree about Grier, have no choice but to roster him now. Wonder who gets the 5th WR spot if Mingo goes on the IR: Holden, Flournoy, Brooks?

-Believe Murray is a roster lock. Who are the 7 backers you are talking about as Overshown will be placed on PUP? Murray, Sanborn, Marist, James, Clark is 5.

-It's going to be Sanders or Mafah, I would think Sanders makes the team, where Mafah is on the ps.

-Asim Richards spot could be in trouble, yes he has positional flex, but not good that he is a backup with all these injuries.
- I believe when Overshown is due to return off PUP, and back to the active roster , a roster is going to have to be made to make room.. and i cannot recall the last time
we carry as many a number of seven LBs on the 53 roster ...

- i know Murray has had a newborn, but he's gonna have to experience a new defense, and from I understand he hasn't played a live action game as Maris, Saborn, Clark,
and James already have.

- On the contrary, i would think Richards brings value due to that same capability to play both OT and OG,. that's critical with both emeegency injuries, and
game day active roster.

-Overshown is still months away from returning, he won’t be activated until November at the earliest

-appears Murray is getting that veteran, starter treatment like a few others on the team. Yes, he did miss some time, but he has been practicing with the team.

-Richard’s was suppose to battle Guyton to become the starter, now he is behind the backups. A player like Bass who can also play multiple spots could take his spot away

Oh I'm not disagreeing with you but I don't understand the way they approached the last two games Greer should have got the start Saturday and if he outplayed Milton he should also got to start Friday we need to prepare him to be the backup and they're basically bring him in in garbage time with no talent around him or he's going against it literally makes no sense to me I realize Milton needs to snap but he can get the snaps in the second half of games versus letting Greer get some snaps at the beginning of games like significant snaps...

I think they're missing the opportunity to get Greer ready for QB2 By just giving more experience to Milton I just don't get it..

Look I know we shouldn't question coaches because they're supposed to know more than us and I hardly ever do it but when you have preseason this is the opportunity to do things like this I wanted to see Williams if they think he's RB1 then why isn't he playing he has not earned anything in this league to get a pass from preseason to just get a position handed to him why these other guys are working their butts off....

I feel that way they're making a mistake with Greer.. I believe he's at a point where he can be like Cooper Rush now but I would love to see it in some games where he's not playing mop up..

Remember last year we had this conversation about him because he pretty much just owned his last preseason game here I mean the dude was incredible and now he ended up on another team and they thought maybe they should have kept him because Cooper Rush has already hit a wall He's a Progress stopper he was for Trey Lance last year but at least Grier could have just developed more but instead they let him go..

Remember the conversation they thought that Grier won the job and he ends up getting cut...Meh

Guess we'll find out soon enough how all these decisions are being made where in my opinion they're wasting preseason snaps where they really need to get some of these players more significant reps..

Policy for quarterback is to stick with a chosen player and if a developer, bring him along in system.

They are giving Milton every opportunity to seize the job and he has yet to do so. Similar to Trey Lance last season, ultimately Lance became the #3 QB behind Rush. I think they already know what they have in Grier, like they did with Rush. Grier is probably going to be the #2 QB.

I agree that's probably their thinking, but I still think Greer could have used the snaps just as much... I guess time will tell let's just hope this will be like 2021 where after Prescott got injured in 2020 we had all those injuries we had a bad year Prescott stayed healthy the entire year the team bounced back they won 12 games.. Pray Prescott plays at least fourteen games this year..

And truthfully somehow the Cowboys are like in the race like the true race they're 7-3 and Prescott gets a season ending injury, I don't think they're turning to either player, and I know it's weird but they may go out and pick a guy up off the street like the Eagles did about five years ago I can't remember his name him and his brothers all played in the NFL sometimes you go get a veteran that's sitting out there and you just got to hope for the best..

I mean what happened to Ryan Tannehill.... I believe he's a free agent he would be the type of guy that I would go grab in that situation.. I know he'd be a little bit of a progress stopper but W wouldn't he be better as the number two with Milton as your emergency guy?

I'm not sure if RT is that much better than Greer but I imagine in short bursts he is.. Here reminds me of Mariota who last year Washington needed him to come in for Daniels and beat us they have a similar game..

I agree, if they are in the playoff hunt, would look outside the organization. However, in a short-term injury, think Grier would get the call.

Richard was never in contention to be the new start over guyton.
The LT starting role was/is Guyton to lose.

Cowboys invested a pricey first round pick on Guyton, and you think Asim was gonna compete with Guyton on this ?

In fact it has been much circulated that Richards prefers to play inside at OG, rather than outside at OT.
