Dallas Cowboys

Best Pick: Anthony Fasano, TE, Notre Dame. 2nd Rd(53)
Bit of a reach, but for a team that wants to run a two TE set, they needed an all around second option. This was their only solid Day One selection.

Worst Pick: Bobby Carpenter, LB, Ohio St. 1st Rd(18)
Carpenter just was not worth a Top 20 selection, and better players were available.

Second Day Steal: Pat Watkins, S, Florida St. Rd 5(138)
Watkins is a jumbo(6'5) free safety, and his centerfield skills are a perfect compliment to Roy Williams.

Overall: D+. The Cowboys just seemed to reach all over the place. Carpenter is a solid player, but not worth the pick they used on him. Fasano is solid, but was a slight reach himself. Jason Hatcher in the third round was a reach, and a project.

It just depends how you rank these guys.

Do you trust where the Dallas Cowboys, Rick Gosselin, Mel Kiper, etc., have him ranked, or do you give the edge to Football's Future.com?

Just a matter of personal preference, I guess. lol

I really can't get worked up over these draft grades.

Most turn out to be inaccurate in two to three years.

Besides, the Cardinals are always Super Bowl winners after their drafts. :laugh2:

These ranking grades mean absolutely nothing. Because the rank(draft) is more of a money issue than an ability issue. The NFL has chosen to play the rookies more in granteed money than their veteran players. So they hedge with these ranking systems of how much money is alloted to these rookies based on standardized tests(Physical and mental).

These test grades are a strong correlation to production on the football field based on your position. These tests don't take under consideration what is the athletes motaviation(when did this athlete peak).

This was what I thought during and after the draft. Not one game changer on day one, just projects and reaches. No team in our division is going OH! NO! They got Bobby Carpenter, he's going to kills us. And same thing with Anthony Fasano. I had hoped we would get him as a backup, but I thought he was a day two guy, and that was before I had heard about the injuries. And Jason Who, Hatcher. We could have gotten him on day two also or maybe in free agency. To me, the most useful pick was Skyler Green.

So which player drafted into the division made you literally scream, "OH! NO!"?

I hate the Green pick.

I hate drafting for Special Teams ... esp in the 4th round.

You're such a closet Commanders fan. I've never seen you say one positive thing about this team. On top of that, I've never seen you say one intelligent thing either.

So another question. You scouted all the propsects in this years draft, ranked them, and from this have the insight as to where players should have been taken, what other teams were targeting, and with this self obtained knowledge can already tell us how bad the draft was? Hey maybe you should go and apply for a job at an NFL scouting office, I hear they are looking for couch GM's and scouts...especially ones who base their opinion on a draft guide they bought at 7 11.

I think whats annoying most of the fans is lack of sex appeal in this draft. this was a workman like draft. Good solid picks who were drafted at about the right places. No big names that slid. No splashing around to trade up to take people. Just take the best player on our board when our time is up.
