I think the biggest thing with Carter is that he has flash plays that impress - ie the tackle from behind on Julio Jones where he caught up to him.

And then he seems to loaf around - ie the SD game when he covered Danny Woodhead.

With Carter it's a matter of him playing at his fastest speed the entire game instead of one or two plays within the game.

Whatever his issue is, learning the scheme, motivation, etc...he really needs to play with his hair on fire this year if he wants to stay in Dallas.

He did appear to lack intensity at times, but the 2 TD plays by SD were not due to loafing. He had as good of coverage as possible by a LB on the 1st one. On the 2nd one, he just sort of froze up for a split second when Woodhead cut upfield. That was not a lack of effort, but a brain freeze.

I reviewed all of his snaps in the final game of the season. He was better than I remembered. I thought he was good considering that the he had never played or practiced MLB until after Lee was injured.

Well, again it will be interesting to see what position he spends most of his time at in training camp. I don't see him being a MLB... but I'm a little surprised that he wasn't at WLB more in the mini-camps.

Why not MLB? He is significantly bigger than Durant.

I think the team had an uneasiness with Durant at MLB also. And you could include Hitchens in that thought, hence the McClain trade.

If I were to rank the MLB candidates:

1. McClain
2. Hitchens
3. Durant
4. Holloman

I would rate Durant by a nose over Holloman. He's smaller than Holloman, but he's more experienced.

I think Durant is the guy to beat out at the Mike but I agree they aren't easy about any of them there. I can see McClain at the Mike and someone in the nickel, dime and other SPs.

Yeah, I could easily see that scenario taking place.

I'm rooting for a Durant at SAM, McClain at MIKE, and Carter at WILL scenario.

With Church and either an improved Carter or DeVonte Holloman in Nickel packages.
