They were smart to move Jones away from Mo. That's solid coverage right there.

Dude is playing to get paid and with some new found confidence. He might be coming along like Jimmy Smith did, took him a while, but he became a quite a good corner.

Not sure Mo will ever live up to his sixth round pick, but he's showing signs we need to lock him up. His injury history is what scares me though.

Showed three plays where Claiborne played really well against JJ. The first was the slant at the goal line, where he should have the pick. Second was 3rd and short where he broke up a comeback route. Third was an in-route where he broke well and reached across Jones to knock the ball down.

Thank you sir.
I've been a huge supporter of Clai since Day One.
It's good to read confirmation of his good play.

Not only the sixth but giving up our second rounder as well.

He really is playing well thus far, have to give him credit.

Maybe just finally getting healthy and the entire situation lighting a fire under him has helped him step it up.

I agree, the injury situation is a concern but if he continues to play well all season it will be interesting to see what the team decides on his future.

Shame about Scandrick they way Mo is now playing. If we could ever just get everybody together on the field at once - but then I read about Victor Cruz today and they might not have him the rest of the year. It's a brutally tough business.

I dont know if any CB not named Patrick Peterson would ever live up to the 6th pick

This is true, hard to get excited about CBs these days. Just a tough position due to rules and freakish athletes at WR. I wasn't even very excited for Jones initially, him not beating out a mediocre Patmon has me right back to worrying.

No..

It's the CBA and way too many non full pad, non contact days, IMO. They got what they bargained for.....

He was never in a battle with Patmon, he was never really in a battle with anybody considering they switched him around so much.

And he is already playing more than Patmon did last year.

I'm not interested in a CB/FS hybrid. Pick a position and put him there. Makes the first round choice even more suspect.

My problem is Patmon is completely mediocre. He has been a liability since week 1 but got lucky with drops by the receivers he has been covering. Very Sterling Moore like, which isn't a good thing. A first round pick should be able to take that spot.

Patmon ceiling is that of a slot corner. I may be wrong here but I don't remember ever hearing about Jones being a slot corner for us. With his athleticism and size...seems like a waste to have him there. Slot corners are usually smaller corners.

They didn't give up the 6th AND a 2nd rounder. They got the 6th with the 2nd round pick plus a mid first.

Some teams are starting to use big WRs in the slot. It would be good to eventually have Jones in the slot when the slot WR is a guy like Julio Jones.

IIRC Jones did play some slot in the preseason.

no, they gave up the mid first and second rounder to get the sixth is what i meant, poor wording i admit.

Essentially mo not living up to the sixth and the giving up of the second in addition.

Yes, but it is no better or worse than if they owned the 6th from the beginning.

When teams use their own 1st round pick on a player, we don't say they could have traded down and gotten 2 picks instead.

No, my point was living up to the sixth selection understanding we gave up an additional pick to get him at that point, the expectations are greater.

Considering we could have stayed put and drafted two players one at 14 and another in the second.

Remember when Scandrick was the beating child around here? The guy was straight garbage with a capital G. Look at him now, the best corner on our squad. Point being, it's hard to play corner in this league and we need to develop these guys and not jump ship so soon. Jones is going to struggle I guarantee you that, and so it patmon. Just let them develop please. Just like Mo, good for him.
