move that mofo to Sunday Night please.....

If it stays at noon the crowd will be awful. If it moves to 7:30 it will be good, maybe great.

I hope it gets moved, with all apologies to those who have their travel plans screwed up...I feel for ya..

If it stays on Fox, people in Dallas, Austin, New York, Los Angeles, and other places served by Time Warner wont be able to see it unless Fox renews it's contract with TW by December 31st. They are in a dispute about how much TW has to pay to keep Fox and if it is not settled, Fox goes off TW air.

Some ought to reconsider their 'druthers.

We've won a lot of games on SNF, right? If so, flex baby FLEX it! ;)

Just found this too. Stop worrying, the game will stay on FOX.

Week 11, the Broncos and Chargers played each other. That game could not be "flexed" to Sunday night because, as per the NFLs rules, the 'regional channels' (CBS and FOX) has to show one matchup between 2 divisional teams. Denver and SD played on monday night earlier in the year when they played, by rule they cannot play on sunday night. The same will happen in Week 17, FOX will get the Cowboys/Eagles game no matter what the playoff implications are.

Lesson learned, don't believe everything you read on CowboyZone :)

P.S. A friend of mine sent me the above......

This makes no sense.

I trust Jerry's understanding of the television rules more than your friends. :p:

The game absolutely CAN be flexed, and most probably will... and it's gonna be awesome! That night kickoff is so much better than the crappy noon kickoff.

As long as we haven't played in 6 night games, which we wouldn't have, then there is no other rule that block keep NBC from flexing it. FOX and CBS aren't allowed to "protect" games in week 17.

NBC will flex it because they want ratings and nobody delivers ratings like the Cowboys. Factor in that we're playing a division rival from a huge market, both teams having marquee QBs, in a game that will likely determine the most glamorous division in football, and you've got yourself a stone cold, lead pipe lock for a Flex.

None of those other games will deliver anywhere near the ratings that this game will.

The week 17 flex rules were made for just this kind of a game.

I don't care when they kick it off as long as Dallas comes to play and beats down the friggen Eagles.

Just think.

In the next 3 weeks we could exorcise some demons of a whole decade.

the eagles have pushed us around the whole decade for the most part.

We get them at home at the end of the season, in a scenario where we can win the division and command a home game, possibly against the eagles.

So in the next 3 weeks if you want to be the big time optomist, You could say that we could

-Put the final dagger in that skins debacle.
-Win the east
-Knock the eagles to a wild card game.
-Knock out the giants in week 17.
-knock out the eagles in week 18.

I cant imagine anything better than doing that to the nfc east opponents.

and it is all right there to be done. We just have to take it one play at a time and play well.

it could maybe end the decade long struggle with the eagles and in turn get a huge monkey off our back.

its all right there in front of us, everything a player on the cowboys could want and a fan of the cowboys could want. now they just have to do it.

Yup, I said the same thing on another thread and I was told that I was wrong. Even if there is no such "rule", FOX will undoubtedly protect that game since it will have high ratings and they didn't broadcast the first game.

You are wrong. There is no such rule.

What's more, FOX can't protect any game that week.

We may not end up getting flexed, but if that doesn't happen, it's not because of this "rule."

The posters over at the506 seem to have a much better grasp of these things.

While they are divided as to who will get that last game, it's pretty clear that there is no such rule about divisional rivals getting two Sunday night games.

So Thanksgiving doesn't count as a primetime game?

I think they should flex Arizona and GreenBay

I'm not sure what those threads proved. Fox can/will protect that game.

Those threads don't "prove" anything... I thought people might be interested in reading an intelligent conversation about the flexing rules among people who have immersed themselves in NFL television scheduling.

Apparently not. If you want to continue to cite a rule that doesn't exist, be my guest.

CBS and FOX cannot protect games in week 17.

Primetime is a reference as to what time a program/game starts, which is 8 pm eastern/7 pm central standard time. The Thanksgiving game is a national game, but it is not a primetime game.

Eh, really? I hadn't heard that. That's crazy.

Another reason Time Warner sucks. But anyone who's ever been a customer of theirs knows that.

If somehow Fox is off the system, time for the rabbit ears. :) Who needs stinking TW anyway!

By rule FOX can't protect the game, but they will make calls and beg to keep the game and maybe make favors under the table. They have already lost NY@Dallas, Dallas@Philly and Dallas@Washington this year to NBC, so they definitely don't want to lose another Dallas game. That doesn't even count the 2 games on CBS, the 1 on MNF and the 1 on the NFLN that FOX lost out on this year.

and to me, the later we play it the better the crowd.

If the game is for the division, we may get 95000 plus in there again like the giants game....That would be huge.

This exactly!!!... This would be the biggest game in the new stadium to date including the home opener. If the division is on the line against the hated eagles the at the night the crowd will be out of control. It might atually sound like we have a home field advantage.
