Fire Tom Landry

:) Anyone else like Gary Hogeboom here?

I liked him.

And apparently, so did most of his teammates at the time. It was that informal DMN poll among the players that added some fire to the Hogeboom-White controversy.

Landry always tried to be too cute on offense. I agree that they should have rode Dorsett to control the clock and keep Bradshaw on the sideline. That wasn't the Steel Curtain of 1974. Dorsett could have had 200 yards if they would have fed him the ball.

Jackie Smith aaaaaaaaaaargh

Anyone know the name Fred Swearingen?

If Jimmy was the head coach and Norv was the OC, Dorsett would have gotten 25 carries for 200 yards and that performance would have become legendary.

I had hope for Gary and understood the move after all White was dealing with the effects of a broken wrist and never seem to be the same after that injury. That 83 playoff game I was there as well and it is more than White as the defense gave up over 200 yards to Dickerson that day and you are right that was one cold SOB of a day. Pipe had burst at the stadium and had about an inch of ice on the upper level of the stadium

Hogenboom was a Colt in 1986. White did not break his wrist until mid-season of the 86 season, so that did not play a part of the QB battle between the two. Also, Dickerson ran 23 times for 99 yards in the 83 playoff game at Texas Stadium. He ran 34 times for 248 yards in the 86 playoff game(85 season) at L.A.

Dorsett's number of carries was always a hot topic back then.

Tony wanted more.

Landry's opinion was that at 185-190 pounds, Tony wasn't sturdy enough to carry a huge load and he tried to limit his carries.

Yea Chief, that made sense to me (to some degree) when considering a season and a career, but when it is the last game of the season, and a championship is on the line, and the guy is KILLING the defense, you give him the ball. Just a bad decision on Landry's part that day.
