Would there be any useful DL players this year in the late 2nd to mid rounds.
I think that would be a mistake. We have a bunch of contracts coming due at other positions at the end of next season. We need players who can possibly take over at those positions, or at least give us some leverage in contract negotiation. CB and LB will be concerns.Need DE and interior. Any solid FAs out there we don't have to overpay for average performance?
DL is all over the place? K
I was saying we need all positions of the DL...and if we can find any solid FA DL that isn't washed up and overpaid I'm down for it.No lol.
Thread title- we need to use three draft picks on DL
Then- Need DE and interior
Then- Any solid free agents? FAs are draft picks
Then- we don't have to over pay for average performance. What are you eve hmmm saying?
Rookies would be cheap, don't see how they would affect our cap too much any time soonI think that would be a mistake. If a starter quality RB is there you save millions by letting Zeke play out. I’d probably not pick the other two but I would take a safety, WR, OT maybe even a CB who was a better player than I could get at Dline. If you got a starter quality CB makes it easier not to extend jones. A WR helps the offense, a safety helps the secondaryWhat if it's RB, ILB, RG?
I think you could find a DT in FA, a DE with rush skills is much harderI was saying we need all positions of the DL...and if we can find any solid FA DL that isn't washed up and overpaid I'm down for it.
I think everyone agrees with you although my bet is McClay and front office will stick to their draft plan although now with the who knows about Gregory situation, trading next year's #1 is more of a possibility than ever.Need DE and interior. Any solid FAs out there we don't have to overpay for average performance?
I don't think anyone takes you seriously. Unless u talkin about Onyx, I'm sure as heck not listeningRight off the bat you're talking about your first non-Dline pick starting on day 3(!)... That's not a great way to infuse young talent throughout your roster. I think upgrade at backup QB, at least 2 new WRs, Oline depth, LB depth depending on Lee's status, and everyone always needs an influx of new talent in the defensive backfield. 3 straight picks dedicated to one position group... never works. Remember when the Commanders took a bunch of WRs to open their draft? Remember when you did the special teams draft?
Exactly. Saying before a draft that you’re only going to select at a certain position is a recipe for a failed draft. That’s the kind of thinking Jerry was famous for in the disaterous drafts of 2000 and 2009. Thankfully we have smarter people in the room like Will McClay who can keep the train on the tracks.I wouldn’t mind if the draft worked that way but it’s not likely
You just can’t pass better talent to fill positions
TiersWhat if it's RB, ILB, RG?
We drafted our G last year. He just needs to hit the weights.
I'll scream all day that you should never draft strictly using BPA, but you should also NEVER draft strictly using need. When drafting, EVERYTHING should be considered. For instance, Gregory was strictly a BPA pick. Why was it a mistake? Dude couldn't even stop toking long enough to test. Taco was a need pick. Although he was pretty close to BPA at the time, I thought he was overrated due to the fact that he was very raw, and was going to take a couple seasons.Exactly. Very stupid draft strategy. Reopen thread.BPA - nuff said - close thread.
Maybe not if we play FA right ...... Frank Clark and Corey Liuget would be awesome additions. Then we go BPA in draft.Need DE and interior. Any solid FAs out there we don't have to overpay for average performance?
Yeah, maybe throw a 5th-7th rounder at a QB prospect if he's there, but not a need.We have to see what Mike White is. We have too many other needs before adding a 4th qb to the roster.
Watt should’ve been the pick instead of Taco.I'll scream all day that you should never draft strictly using BPA, but you should also NEVER draft strictly using need. Everything should be considered. No stones unturned.
