Wow.

Your post just made me think of course correction:

Detroit. Bad call reversed to no call, Dallas advances.

Dallas. Bad call reversal to incompletion. Green Bay advances.

Green Bay. Bad, just bad play for last few minutes. Seattle advances.

So, now... What? Seattle wins to "correct" the nfl football world?

I think the only thing that corrects it is if they're smart enough to clean up all of the areas that cost them so many problems and hits to their reputation this year.

Fix your lousy player conduct program.

Fix these ridiculous rules that leave huge gaps for interpretation and confusion.

Fix your officiating crews so they do a more competent job.

Fix rules to severely penalize cheating rather than sweeping it under the rug, again.

Get that done in the offseason and we can hope for a better 2015 season than this disgrace.

While I agree with all of your points. I was referring to the teams ultimate game results only.

seahawks fully deserve to be there. 4 turnovers and STILL beat green bay.

exactly, not sure why anyone would think Seattle doesn't deserve to be in the SB is beyond me. What we might have done to Seattle had we played them has no relevance since we didn't.

Fact is that the current NFL is so screwed up that the case can easily be made that in the NFC, the better team has lost for the past three weeks.

If he got caught twice cheating, he's done it a lot. You don't just get caught doing things for the first time. No telling how many cheating tactics Belicheat has done over the years.

These are very good points right here...and I totally agree!

Not sure?

I am "sure" if you wanted to ... You could see why?

Answer this honestly.... With a few minutes left in game did they seem deserving of even being in NFC title game let alone ... Advancing to Super Bowl?

should never have had home field.....

I understand the tiebreaker rules and there has to be a rule but we were screwed this year.

In common games between the three tied teams it was

Dallas 1-0
Seattle 1-1
Green Bay 0-1

Yet, Seattle ended up with home field, a bye and an easy divisional round game.

Green Bay got a home game

We had to play on the road and had to play an extra game.

This year the tie breaker played out incorrectly. The only team not to lose to either of the two teams above them would have had to play on the road and beat both of them to get to the SB.

Yeah well they overcame a bad start, played really good ball to get to championship game, overcame its shortcomings and found a way to win the game. Take that over NE's win anyday.

IMO In the end asterisks don't really matter. Denver was over the salary cap with their team that won their first Super Bowl. Is anyone talking about that? Is it etched in their SB rings? Was there a deduction on their individual SB pay checks? Did their team sales and popularity go down? Nope, quite the opposite. Basically this issue will be washed away in a few weeks much like the Suh reversal nonsense. The Pitt Seattle SB was a travesty and I swore off the NFL for College football after that game and wondered back to the NFL by draft time.
And that's why Goodell and the owners laugh all the way to the bank. The fans whining and crying the loudest aren't going anywhere - and they know it.

If the better team always won, the Giants would not have been SB Champs in 2007 or 2011. :)
There is so much parity in this league that many games, especially in the playoffs, could have gone either way. 4 out of 10 playoffs games really could have gone either way. It is a lot about matchups.

I believe the Patriots are better than the Ravens, but the Ravens match up well with the Patriots and almost beat them. If that had happened, I think Indy would have won the AFCCG.

Similarly, I think Seattle is the best team in the NFC, but we match up very well with them. If the right call is made on the Dez Bryant catch, I think Dallas would be the ones prepping for the Super Bowl right now.

The tiebreaker rules are determined in advance and are not structured in any way whatsoever to favor any team in advance.

The way it played out for Dallas sucked but you can't just arbitrarily change a rule simply because it didn't work out this time, and it's pretty bankrupt to only complain about a rule after-the-fact.

Where did I ask to change a rule? In fact I stated the rules are in place and there has to be one but we were the ones screwed this year. Green Bay was the ultimate winner in that they beat neither of us yet ended up getting a home game. At least vs Green Bay, Seattle had beaten them but again though, Seattle benefited in that both their games against teams 1 and 2 were at home during the regular season.

They certainly had no problems giving cap penalties to the Cowboys and Commanders.

Very true.

And I'm still amazed to this day that the Players' Union never attacked them in what was obviously a case of collusion.
