1. #27 - RB Melvin Gordon

Fits like a glove in this system and is the second best back in the draft by a wide margin.

2. TRADE - Cowboys trade 2nd (#60), 4th rounder (#127), and CB Morris Claiborne to Vikings for 2nd (#45).

#45 - LB Eric Kendricks

Kendricks is consistently dropping to the 2nd across many mock drafts. It wouldn't surprise me if it was leaked that the Cowboys had a mid to late first round grade on him. The trade leapfrogs us one spot ahead of the Niners, who have a big need for an ILB. Kendricks, McClain, and Lee makes for a scary trio at the 2nd level. Claiborne goes to Minnesota, where he's a better scheme fit. They take a chance on a guy that they almost took #3 overall back in the 2012 draft.

3. #90 - CB Josh Shaw

Has the ideal size for a corner with the timed speed to play on the outside. He's played some safety and tackles like one, which makes him a great fit. We did our homework on many guys with character issues, and I think Shaw checks out in that area.

5. #163 - DE Frank Clark

I think he's a scumbag, but he has once in a decade type measurables. Not going to find a player with a higher ceiling this late. A Hardy/Clark, Mincey/Lawrence rotation at DE is a hell of a turn around in one off-season.

7. #236 - OT Chaz Green

Official Visit, and a private workout? Cowboys must like him as a swing tackle.

7 #243 - WR Kaelin Clay

Dwayne Harris' replacement.

no point weakening an already weak group,we might as well let Mo play out one more year and wash our hands off him.

First 3 rounds=perfect.

But I don't want Clark on the team.

I think if Kendricks falls to the 27th pick the cowboys would waste no time turning in the card with his name on it...I do not think he falls to 45.

I agree. I think right now they have the scenario of these 5 folks at 27. 1. Gurley, 2. Gordon 3. Byron Jones 4. Kevin Johnson 5. Kendricks. Very possible the top 4 are gone by 27.

I think that is a pretty good guess of the list they would be looking at for 27.

Now if the board starts to get wiped out like last year (donald, Barr, Shazier and there was another one or two I don't remember off the top of my head) so we take Martin...which turned out was a pretty good thing for us and with the exception of Donald...better than the other picks.

So...if those guys are off the board this year...that will be the interesting part. :D

Those two would be interesting if they did fall. We were discussing yesterday how we have had no contact with any of the top OL. So would they pull the trigger and risk another "Mo". Draft a player in the 1st that they have had no contact with? Very interesting scenario

One of the Talkin Cowboys show said that if some of the better Olinemen fell that it could be a good thing as that is one group we have not seemed to be targeting but a group of players that OTHER teams would be interested in...in other words it could be a good scenario for a team to trade up and get one.

That's what I think as well. Looking forward they have two more pro bowl OL type players that will need to get paid. Budget wise they have to think ahead.

Interesting trade.

No big deal, but it helps to use a basis for how to draft....otherwise we can kind of take whoever we want.
What rankings did you use.?
If you use the CBS or NFLDraftScout rankings, none of those players in the first 5 rounds are available

Gordon, Kendricks, Shaw, Clark...all gone before the pick. Shaw was the closest.

Interesting I think he will definitely be on the board when we pick. He looks good but I hope we take CB or RB.
